It doesn't prevent interruption from:
  1. Being stunned
  2. Being silenced
  3. Being paralyzed
  4. The target leaving range or going behind you
  5. The target dying or jumping before you finish your spell
  6. Not having enough MP to cast due to UI/AF wearing off mid-cast
  7. Enochain wearing off
  8. Just about anything else you can think of
Which is why Surecast is MOSTLY useless. I say mostly because it can help for those times when you're expecting a party-wide attack that may interrupt your spell...which isn't going to happen that often.
