Why Isn't FC Housing and Personal Housing Separate?

I'm genuinely curious because i made an FC for housing me and my girlfriend intended to rank it to 5 in 2 while farming gil to buy a house. We are on Zodiark btw. All the housing in every area and ward is taken. However most are taken by individuals. I just don't understand why wards aren't separated half to individuals and half to FCs. I'm sure there would still be plots available. Also 8 wards is nowhere near enough.

It just seems like the current system is completely unfair for new players. It also seems like something that will increase real money trading in this game. I have an income to afford a small plot on my server which back when i last saw open spaces 1-3 million. Now your telling me the only way i can get Housing is by buying from a player at up to 10x the original price. Id rather pay real cash out right.

Well sorry for 2 paragraphs of rant but i feel mistreated as a player. I wanted housing for more than a few things before airships and personal housing came.

Yoshi wanted them to be separate and that was the original intention. However he was told by the dev team that it would be simpler/cheaper to just keep the same system... why they didn't just add separate wards for personal housing vs FC housing we'll never know.

If that's the case, I'm certainly not complaining. I quite like having my private house next door to my Free Company estate...

Ultimately, it comes down to server resources (read: physical servers available) in order to accompany such a decision.

In addition to alleviating the lag issues EU players have been facing for years, the decision to create a data center actually located in Europe for EU players has a couple other possible benefits we don't have any verification on yet: a) server connectivity issues for NA servers may become less frequent due to lower traffic loads inbound to the Montreal facility, & b) with it soundling like they're digitally transferring the server/world/character data instead of transporting the actual servers for the EU center, the old servers may be repurposed into serving as more storage for such things as housing, expanded character data and other such game features for NA servers. This is currently pure speculation on my part, but it is a reasonable guess.

Thats all well and good. However having the same resources for individual players and FC shouldnt have happened in the first place. Also reagarding resources they should have been evenly split between players and FC. Since theres are infinitely more players than FCs. Which means all of said plots are purchased before FCs have the chance. While im at it. How much would it cost me to buy a housing plot from a player and then purchase the plot? Some exact figures for a small plot of land. I dont want or need a Large. Especially with my current income. Also How long would i have to wait for a plot to become available? Since i havnt seen any new wards in game since 2.4 update.

Even if they did divvy up plots into strict "private/FC"-only options, people would still get around it like they are now with DFCs (dummy companies) to own more than one house.

As to a relinquishing fee - that all comes down to the player selling their house; you're most likely going to be covering their original buying cost plus construction permits (unless they're switching servers soon, at which you'll probably get a steal), and then most people also add in the current MB-value of items they can't remove from the house (read: BCoB/EX Primal furniture/fixtures). Depending on what they're losing, you could pay anywhere from 1.5-4x the plot's original value for a relinquishing fee.
