But as long the rewards are crap, I keep playing what I'm more comfortable in. Currently I do not queue up at all, as I don't need ESO tomes anymore. With the right reward, I would think about it.
You commented on my post about queue times... So I don't know why you are talking about rewards.

I never said I didn't want better rewards for those roles, in fact, I didn't even mention rewards in that post.

I still stand for what I said in another post though, that they can't just throw out better rewards to patch over the problem... They need to give people incentive to play those roles because they like it, not because it's rewarding. That will only result in more tanks/healers that doesn't know how to play that role.

The thing is, the queues for DPS haven't really changed for a while now... They were shorter earlier in 3.0, but that's just because of mainly DRK being new and everyone trying it out.

My queues as DPS have always been this way, so what I'm getting at, is that the tank population doing dungeons probably haven't dropped below what it has kinda always been (excluding the DRK inflation).

Maybe there are just much more healers in 3.0 than before? Then there wouldn't really be any problem at all... Can't really complain about longer queues, when everyone wants more players to play healers/tanks, which results in longer queues.

    Just my experiance

Thought I'd throw my two cents in here about the general experience for a tank. I started playing the game about two months ago and generally from level 15-60 on warrior, 15-26 on Paladin and 30-41 on DRK has been overall pleasant.

Never had an issue with aggro or with fight mechanics as I always read up first. And the community was overall nice and pleasant to play with.

But once I reached 60 and began the farm for my iLvl 170 gear then I started encountering problems. Had no aggro issues still and didn't die on boss fights, but would always get told to pull more trash. Which I simply responded 'No sorry, not at my iLvl' and would have people leave mainly healer's.

Or I'd choose my preferred path through the dungeon and someone would go the opposite way and flat out refuse to move until I go to them or just pull and kill themselves and blame me.

So now in the DF i just do the Trial Roulette and the High Level roulette as the player base is lovely. I only do Expert with my FC or Friends list now and same if I am doing direct queue's into Fractal or Reap.

No issues and now I can do the pulls people originally wanted me to do, but I've got people I actually want to play with now and don't need to take the risk of running into jerks.

Sure it's probably not just the DPS or Healer's and I bet there are tanks out there whining about DPS or Healer's. But I've only been 60 for a little over a week and already dropped the DF Expert PuG's... Worth a thought on attitude overall.

(So while I've but my reasoning for stopping PuG's for the 60 stuff I personally believe it's just a symptom. Tanks and possibly Healer's as well find a cure in making friends with the good people they meet and end up with a large list of people they like. As a result they no longer need to PuG and can simply pull people from their friends and as your friends make friends they invite them and you make more friends...

Once you're at the cap you quickly don't need to group with random's as you have an expanding community of people you enjoy playing with, there needs to be an incentive to encourage people to not play just with friends if you want to fix the lack of Tank and Healer's queueing.... Or just make a few active Tank/Healer/Dps friends yourself).

dps leveling DR = 10-15 min
    dps trial = 5-10 min
healer expert DR = 5-10 min

i would say that dps queues have been improved , i remember 30 min for DR low lvl , to 1-2 min at the start of 3.0 (thanks ob...errh DRK )

I just assumed because there's less people right now due to 3.1 taking forever.

I would have expected them to be one of those incentives, to get tanks to queue up where they are most needed - in pugs. Instead, most tanks will have gotten them by farming them quietly with their FC, because that's the easiest, safest and probably fastest way to do it. If the achievement instead had been awarded for completing roulettes as tank, that would have set the incentives right. People are already more inclined to tank for their friends/FC, because the job is a lot less "tankless" there. There doesn't need to be a reward for that. The reward needs to be for putting up with the stress of tanking for randoms.
This is exactly right. What was the point of giving me a mount for doing content I would do anyway as a tank? I haven't touched expert roulette in weeks now (since pvp gives me my eso). In all honesty, the moment they give me an incentive to do roulette I will gladly go back on as tank.

Tbh, if you have an i180+ healer with you, and they ask you to pull more, they are likely able to keep you up.
I was able to easily keep up a ~i155 War in Neverreap with full pulls (he even pulled the second group of Wasps to the 2xTotem + Vanu group), and I could even slightly DPS.
I see little reason to not try to pull more. The worst that can happen is a wipe, and if you say from the start the you are not sure about larger pulls, but will risk it, then nobody will blame you if the damage is too much.

I never really had a bad experience tanking in Duty Finder. Its usually tanks who are being rude, but its only happened a few times. I don't understand why they have such massive egos. However, tanks are also the nicest.

I tank and heal higher level content with friends and free company members. I don't personally want to deal with the expectations of DF. It's not worth it for me.

Not everyone has nerves to risk wipes. Whenever I tank / heal, my responsibility isn't to do big pulls, my responsibility is to prevent wipes. Every single wipe is failure no matter if you get blamed or not. The main issue is that there are players who have no patience for new tanks, while they expect you as the tank to follow their whims without losing patience of yours.

Queues are longer because tanking is more demanding. It isn't hard to do in safe environment, it is hard due to social issues. If everybody would let tanks set their own pace, followed marking and instructions, then there would be more tanks. That's not the case tho, so it is no wonder many players get discouraged from tanking for randoms, or they become "arrogant" tanks, because the anger or frustration builds up over time.

I would also blame the lack of responsibility when it comes to dpsing. If dps role was more difficult and demanding, many people would switch to healing/tanking.

The thing keeping me from queuing as anything but Bard is two-fold. One, I suck as a healer, I don't have the speed to heal through speed runs and probably never will. Two, I am a Gridanian purist and there's no Gridanian tank at all. It's an odd disparity to me that Ul'dah has a tank, Limsa Lominsa has a tank and now Ishgard has a tank... but Gridania doesn't have anything of the sort. I'd probably try tanking if this weren't the case... but it's not. Real shame.
