    Just my experiance

Thought I'd throw my two cents in here about the general experience for a tank. I started playing the game about two months ago and generally from level 15-60 on warrior, 15-26 on Paladin and 30-41 on DRK has been overall pleasant.

Never had an issue with aggro or with fight mechanics as I always read up first. And the community was overall nice and pleasant to play with.

But once I reached 60 and began the farm for my iLvl 170 gear then I started encountering problems. Had no aggro issues still and didn't die on boss fights, but would always get told to pull more trash. Which I simply responded 'No sorry, not at my iLvl' and would have people leave mainly healer's.

Or I'd choose my preferred path through the dungeon and someone would go the opposite way and flat out refuse to move until I go to them or just pull and kill themselves and blame me.

So now in the DF i just do the Trial Roulette and the High Level roulette as the player base is lovely. I only do Expert with my FC or Friends list now and same if I am doing direct queue's into Fractal or Reap.

No issues and now I can do the pulls people originally wanted me to do, but I've got people I actually want to play with now and don't need to take the risk of running into jerks.

Sure it's probably not just the DPS or Healer's and I bet there are tanks out there whining about DPS or Healer's. But I've only been 60 for a little over a week and already dropped the DF Expert PuG's... Worth a thought on attitude overall.

(So while I've but my reasoning for stopping PuG's for the 60 stuff I personally believe it's just a symptom. Tanks and possibly Healer's as well find a cure in making friends with the good people they meet and end up with a large list of people they like. As a result they no longer need to PuG and can simply pull people from their friends and as your friends make friends they invite them and you make more friends...

Once you're at the cap you quickly don't need to group with random's as you have an expanding community of people you enjoy playing with, there needs to be an incentive to encourage people to not play just with friends if you want to fix the lack of Tank and Healer's queueing.... Or just make a few active Tank/Healer/Dps friends yourself).

Tbh, if you have an i180+ healer with you, and they ask you to pull more, they are likely able to keep you up.
I was able to easily keep up a ~i155 War in Neverreap with full pulls (he even pulled the second group of Wasps to the 2xTotem + Vanu group), and I could even slightly DPS.
I see little reason to not try to pull more. The worst that can happen is a wipe, and if you say from the start the you are not sure about larger pulls, but will risk it, then nobody will blame you if the damage is too much.

Not everyone has nerves to risk wipes. Whenever I tank / heal, my responsibility isn't to do big pulls, my responsibility is to prevent wipes. Every single wipe is failure no matter if you get blamed or not. The main issue is that there are players who have no patience for new tanks, while they expect you as the tank to follow their whims without losing patience of yours.

Queues are longer because tanking is more demanding. It isn't hard to do in safe environment, it is hard due to social issues. If everybody would let tanks set their own pace, followed marking and instructions, then there would be more tanks. That's not the case tho, so it is no wonder many players get discouraged from tanking for randoms, or they become "arrogant" tanks, because the anger or frustration builds up over time.

I would also blame the lack of responsibility when it comes to dpsing. If dps role was more difficult and demanding, many people would switch to healing/tanking.
