Queue times for content getting long?

I've noticed that, whenever I'm on my healer instead of my tank, my queue times start getting horrendously long, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, even sometimes 20 minutes.

And DPS queues, well, just lol.

Meanwhile, my tank queues are instant. Anyone else noticing this gradually getting worse, or am I just unlucky?

I see it just like you, the nearly instaqueues for heals are over.

DPS Queues got slightly better, but just a feeling. Low Level Roulette as DPS goes really fast, but i think that´s because many ppl level atm...

Overall, it seems to me like the playerbase generally shrinks or lacks activity...

Please don't do this, as a tank in savage and a drg elsewhere this would actually make me tank elsewhere, and I really don't want that.

That's the whole point. To attract more tanks.

I would play more tanks if there were more tanks. As it stands tanks are so boring thematically and dps have way more thematic variety to pick from. Tanking is fun but I need a medium/light armor tank or something a little more graceful and quick to even consider maining one. This is coming from someone who only plays tanks in other mmorpgs.

On topic so far I think it hasn't been the best since 3.1 is taking so long. Also the general pressure tanks get in dungeons mean they are more likely to go with friends if they want to get stuff done.

So whenever there are new tomes/ rewards everyone sees queue times drop.

Tanks get rewarded disproportionately however, and so tanks max out those tomes early (and healers too, but less so).

So what happens is, tanks no longer need to queue because they have everything.

DPS however were not getting bonuses, they still have a long way to go.

The knee-jerk reaction is always "give them more stuff and they'll come" but that only works if they need/want that stuff. Tanks don't after a month or so due to bonuses.

Instead of looking at how to get more tanks in DF, maybe look at ways to get *less* DPS in DF?

How about.. hmm.. everytime you log in, you go into Tank and need to do one Dungeon to unlock your healer and dps?

Everyone would Tank, no one would complain that Tank doesn't know what they are doing because.. they would tank themselves.

The Queues will definitely be faster, as everyone would like to get rid of this annoying thing in order to play the role they want for the rest of their session.

They would make sure not to pull too many, as a wipe even once means more time spent in Tank (oh noes!)

Kills the freedom of choice (I play whatever I want so get the hell away), but wouldn't that resolve the queue problems, albeit a bit?

Queues are longer right because of the gap between patches. Not to mention if a tank player does pvp as a dps, tank or healer 1 or more times during the week, it reduces the need to run DR EX. If there are other players like me or players that simply dont run DR EX and just pvp, they reduce the amount of tanks as well.

Also by now those two dungeons are boring. I have ran those 2 dungeons so many times its literally gotten so bad that I cast the same move at the same spot, etc that I can almost do the dungeon blind folded.

Many tanks dont have patience for small pulls and slow burn which is why many people feel most tanks are rude. As a tank you have to have alot of patience for the group and most importantly confidence for yourself.
Alot of people thing player commendations are stupid. But when I switched from SMN and started tanking around 2.1, getting all of those player commendations kind of gave me confidence not only to continue tanking, but to learn more about tanking.

Not quite sure i follow this one... Tanks still get the same number of tomes per run as dps healers and still have the same weekly cap.
Unless your saying that the instant que times is a disproportional reward? Maybe they should cut tank tomes in half so we have to run twice as many times...

For the record, i am a DF tank and rarely have issues. It is the, only two dungeons, that are pathetically easy, that allow me to grind tomes for gear i don't really need, that has driven me away from DF lately.

The thing keeping me from queuing as anything but Bard is two-fold. One, I suck as a healer, I don't have the speed to heal through speed runs and probably never will. Two, I am a Gridanian purist and there's no Gridanian tank at all. It's an odd disparity to me that Ul'dah has a tank, Limsa Lominsa has a tank and now Ishgard has a tank... but Gridania doesn't have anything of the sort. I'd probably try tanking if this weren't the case... but it's not. Real shame.

I prefer to queue as my NIN. As tank, I get a-hole DPS who like to pull for me then complain when I let them solo their own. As healer, I can't heal and dps. So, I like my NIN, that way I'm not pointed at if pulls are wrong or it tank dies.
