    Music Swap

I'll dig up a little around this so You'll know what i am REALLY talking about.

You may see googling around on communities etc about people attempting to change music via files swap and such. Why?

The reason is, even with the GREAT work and the MASTERPIECES Sir. Soken made, maybe some pieces gets boring or we simply do not like them, since we all have different likes and tastes.

What i am willing to do is giving you a great idea.
By making an ORIGINAL, maybe IN GAME/IN CLIENT music swapper of the game, with music purchase (well , low cost ofc, or no1 will be movitivated to buy it) of all the FINAL FANTASY games, maybe with some Masayoshi's remixes, would be the greatest and smartest idea of all times. And i'll explain all the GOOD POINT in doing so:

Easy money earning: for exemple, one song 1,00€ ? Low price, everyone would buy it and swap it. Moltiplicate it for al lthe players who'll do it and gg.
    Best MMO with music customization:
Players customization means GOOD feedback for the game, everyone will make it like they want to, so they'll like it more, play it more, with more entusiasm.
    FIRST mmo with this feature:
i did never ear abotu an mmo with an ORIGINAL music swapper. Will be the first, everyone will talk about it.. people will know it and this will turn in YOUR favor, making more players and such.

You are going to make it like all the rest of the FINAL FANTASY policy, sponsorizing your games like you are alredy doing in this mmo: exactly, you are sponsorizing Lightning, Cloud's outfit, things like crystal tower are all from FF3, music, ETC.. and all the other things that are gathering here, will get EVEN BIGGER with a music swapper, since we'll be able to make it a REAL FINAL FANTASY MIX. Dont forget, Final Fantasy is FAMOUS for its music.

You'll stop the illegal music/file swapping: yes, people are alredy doing it. I honestly did not since i feel bad if every patch i need to update everything, plus i know its not legal.

Conclusions: you have ONLY things to earn, you'll make it a REAL Final Fantasy, with all this customization no one did ever see. More player feedback, more moneys, more people happy.

This is my idea and hint, i hope people will understand it and support it!

I am 100% in on this! I agree that the composers of the game did a fantastic job with the games score, and I cannot express enough to them how much I love some of the musical work they put in this game, I've probably listened to Ravana's phase two theme on a loop about 50 times now. The music in this game is beautiful! That said, we all know how revisiting areas constantly can make a lot of music very boring, especially when you are like myself and have put nearly 2,000 hours into playing this game, and 90% of the time I play, I am muting the in game music and listening to my own stuff anyway. But if SE were to offer the option of swapping music tracks in the game with other music that you may have stored on your device, or better yet for SE, offer the option to purchase music tracks from other FF games to play in place of the regular in game music would be awesome. How cool would it be to swap music once a certain track gets boring, and maybe swap it with something from another FF game for nostalgia purposes, since virtually every single FF game has fantastic music, I honestly cannot think of a single game in the series that doesn't have a wonderful soundtrack. An in game or in client music swap tool would be amazing. Lately I have been listening to FF12 music while playing. I would LOVE to swap the in game music with some FF12 tracks! Other times I listen to music from FF9, FF7, FF6, FF10, FF11, essentially I like listening to FF's music a lot. Not only would it be a cool feature, but it also honors all the hard work that past composers have put into this series by alowing us to enjoy it while we play to our hearts content. If SE adds this feature in the future, I would probably never mute the in game music again.

As cool as it would be, and I hate to be 'that girl', but, sadly I don't see SE ever bringing in something like this into the game - Soken has already stated in the past that the way music files are coded into the game that they can't even change ARR zone themes to make them loop, because they are specifically designed to cue when the player is in a certain area and fade out as they move away, or are cued to play at certain times in the day, it would be too difficult to change. Accordingly because of this a music-swapper function probably would just be not worth the effort to implement I'm afraid.

Having said that though, they have confirmed a jukebox item for company housing is coming in 3.1 or shortly thereafter (a furnishing called an 'orchestrion', which was previously in FFXI which had the same function), as stated here, which will allow players to change the BGM for their house to whatever they wish, so that's at least something:

    1:02:53
Q: Can you add a jukebox-like furnishing that allows us to select the music for our Free Company house?
A: Yoshida: I think this kind of item would be a nice addition. Just the other day I was looking over documents for an item named “Orchestrion.” It said you’ll be able to obtain songs in some way and play them whenever you want. After this is implemented we're planning to add new songs for it with each patch.

Soken: If there's a spec document for a jukebox, then we can add it.

Yoshida: We're aiming to implement the Orchestrion in Patch 3.0 or 3.1.

The music integration is made with a middleware audio engine, and for every zone you are, there is like 8 tracks for what I recall that are playing simultenaously.
This is a key element for game music, so the music can change from "idle theme" to "battletheme" smoothly, for example.
There is actually no point to spend ressources for a feature like this, I mean in a pragmatic point of view. It surely is a good idea but costly.

Having your idea in game mean :
    - Converting the ~4 tracks into a single one. This imply studio mixing, because multi track for game implementation mixing is different that "classic" studio mixing.
    - implement these news tracks to the game
    - Sound Designers should implement new condition to make the "normal" music behavior being bypassed by your feature, "on the go" (on a clic from user)
    - Find the better solution to not impact your performance. Because, this kind of feature for being responsive means that every piece of music is loaded, everytime.
