Thats because a) you select the language you want for duty matches (defaults to client language) and b) matches can occur from other servers within the datacenter, so not affected by your specific server.I am playing on Ragnarok(EU) server and have never had any issues where people did not speak english in duty finder. There are times where people shout FC invites in other languages, but aside from that, everyone that I have met in dungeons and outside of it, speak english.
.
I'm currently on Balmung, but my connection to the Canadian servers isn't ideal (though I love the community on Balmung). I wonder, how is the English RP on the EU servers? I know that before ARR launched people were talking a bit about Odin, but I've also heard Phoenix mentioned.
Not really too phsyched about fragmenting the game community again.
Fragmenting's certainly one problem. The other is the preparatory maintenance that they announced for this - a three-to-five-day downtime. I'm concerned that it'll be just for those involved in the move, and kill progress on those invested on those servers.
You need to see it from our perspective, gameplay experience or community. Gameplay affects every player each time we log in, community is strictly on per interaction. Gameplay is the more important one as it your first and ever lasting impression of the game above all else, I have had a few friends not touch this game due to where the servers are based even for EU side of things.
I've been interested in going EU for awhile but the gil constraints and having a network at gilgamesh have put me off. I don't think lag or latency's ever been anything more than a rare issue for me, maybe i'll notice something on nin's mudras, idk.
I won't. I created a Character on Shiva a few month ago and was quit irritated to see German shouts in the Chatbox.
I am from Germany and still I found it very confusing to see people talk German in the Game. I come from FFXI and I'm not used to see other languages than Japanese and English and I quit can't stand it XD. So no..... not changing.
I've always looked at the servers like this, given how they are currently physically located:
JP servers are for Japanese players & those in Oceania who play on specific servers.
NA servers are for English speaking players worldwide but those in Oceania may choose the JP servers for latency reasons.
EU servers are for French & German speaking players.
That is how *I* looked at it given the JEFD language settings/options available for the game. I never really considered the EU servers to be in English due to them being part of the NA/EU cluster. Obviously others considered it geographically rather than linguistically. The move is welcomed but may cause more problems, we shall see. Any "free transfer" options should be time limited to allow for a longer term comparison.
Actually the very game disagrees with you.I've always looked at the servers like this, given how they are currently physically located:

If you check the data center Chaos it saids "for the residents of Europe".
Heck no: I have a house....and that's it. Unless I get refunded for it there's no way I'm leaving!
