I'd also like to point out how laughable the Blast Shot upgrade is that boost the damage potency is. Since blast shot can only be used at point blank now, it's always going to do 50% of it's damage output so boosting the damage is kind of pointless.
agreed, i dont see why blast shot doesnt have the same immunity to damage reduction from range like far shot does
It's only in pvp. Even with the 80% nerf the ability to constantly dps and pick off kills from a far eventually balances things out. It's strict, the 100% should be 3y window and the penalty should be not be in effect when wm is up.

so if i watch the picture 10 - 16 y is 100% damage, 6 - 10 y and 16 - 20 y is 80% damage, and 0 - 6 y and 20 - 25 y is 50% damage? Do that red square mean anything in that pic?
0-6m = 40%
7-9m = 50%
10-14m = 80%
15m = 100%
16m = 80%
17-20m = 50%
21m+ = 40%
edit: 0-6m and 21-25m is 40%, not 20%

The truth of the matter Tsuole is that the ol grandfather clock has struck midnight for brds and its time to find something else. (unless your standards allow you to settle for being merely a killstealer/mp sink for the healers ) Brd's been kept on a short chain by necessity due to its ease of damage so there WAS some logic behind the ranged penalties. But with the alterations to barrage (pre-3.0 was beautiful...but this forcing into WM to be worthwhile is a deathstroke, especially if you're personally getting zerged and shadowbind is down) there are just better options out there.
Ona side note...i'm just curious why Yoshi felt the need to gimp blastshot to death (what is it...5 yalms, 180 potency which as stated seems pointless with regard to brds ranged penalties, forget the recast timer but its bad) while smns can toss around 3k+ aoe deathflares from a distance with 0 cast time?

The following adjustments have been made to PvP encounters:
The damage penalty incurred due to the distance of a Bard or Machinist from their target will now be reduced when using Wanderer's Minuet or Gauss Barrel.

Just like I was hoping. Reduced, not removed entirely.
I just hope it was reduced sufficiently. Lowering the damage reduction from a max of 60% to a max of 30% (1/2 reduction to the...reduction) or 20% (2/3 reduction to the...reduction) is something I imagine would prove sufficient.
I don't even play a BRD, but I'm happy to see this.
