What would be really funny to me is if the vast majority of the healer players were also playing tanks and vice-versa, thus making the disparity far worse than it seems~

I think plenty already do. Most healers I know (including myself) like to experience all jobs, at least a little, to get a better understanding of how the different jobs work, thus making our healing more efficient.
Lots of tanks as well, have tried healing, to determine how to get better at their own job, how to manage their self-survivability cd perfectly.
Some dps do that too, but they seem to be rare (as in, so rare that it's a blessing to have them in your party)

Wonder how they come up with these numbers compared to hours many hours each job is played or something else.

Those graphs are strictly how many of each job EXISTS across all people's characters. It doesn't say anything about activity. Basically, if you unlocked it, you're in the statistic.

On the first graph it says level 31-60. So yes, if it's unlocked and you've done a few fates it meets the criteria. These graphs would also include inactive accounts so there will be a whole lot more of the older jobs than the new ones.

Just curious but was scholar bad and they changed the whole job around or what it is just a lack of popularity?
If it was the second that then the comparison is wrong since ast is not lacking in popularity but has class issues.
Even in the thread about the upcoming buff people say it's too late for now.

While there were a lot of QoL changes that affect SCH through its initial life cycle, I believe the reason why the 2013 number was so low is because of the fact the job was new. AAR was released on August 27th, 2013. If you take the entire 2013 year, that's only 3 months to get a SCH to whatever threshold S-E considered to be applicable for that statistic. Also consider SCH is an offshoot of a DPS class versus CNJ --> WHM is always healing so that might've detracted some healers initially. There is also the fact that many of those WHMs were probably Legacy players probably all contributed to the huge skew in SCH vs WHM back in 2013.Just curious but was scholar bad and they changed the whole job around or what it is just a lack of popularity?

This is why I'm taking these numbers with a grain of salt. Unless we know exactly how S-E tabulated these results, they show numbers and just numbers.

I'm thinking we basically have the same now. There's some strong hints those census details are counting all characters, regardless of activity. DRK, AST, even MCH -- these jobs aren't exactly unicorns in the DF.There is also the fact that many of those WHMs were probably Legacy players probably all contributed to the huge skew in SCH vs WHM back in 2013.

So we just need a bunch of people maining those to quit and for new players to take their place for them to catch up with the old guard xP
I'm going to blame it starting as a DPS job. A lot of people that would have wanted to heal would want to start out as a healer, I think.Just curious but was scholar bad and they changed the whole job around or what it is just a lack of popularity?

And then there's that Scholar is a very technical job, which can be a turn off to some player types.
