    WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT

Just look at cost vs benefits

    Benefits
    Gives Bridge more Utilization.
Helps inconsistency issue with the cutscene
    Long Bridge is long.
Could possibly add grander scale as chocobos rush in and out of the city's feet.
    Just makes sense -__-
    Role Players will like.

    Costs
    Foot thumping while on bridge?
    Possible view obscurity?

That would be great! I have actually sometimes paid for a rental chocobo even though I have my personal chocobo already just to not have to make that long run out of Limsa.

OMG!!!! I would LOVE this. I actually thought the other day that we should be able to chose to take our own Chocobos from the stables, and be able to see the cool little cutscene whenever we please. Are the devs reading my mind? o.O

Also, I think we can all agree that being able to use our Chocobos in town would be awesome. It doesn't have to remain that way in 2.0, but since the current towns will be scrapped anyway... why not just give in and let us use our Chocobos there?

10/14/11 - FFXIV community civil war erupts. "I'm paying and the game is gonna be awesome." VS. "I'm leaving and the game is gonna die." Let the battles begin!

Depends on how you interpret what he said.

"Moving around within the city-state of your Grand Company: Introduce a warp feature as a Grand Company reward."

Are the surrounding regions "within" the city-state? Given he talked about an overlap, I imagine it's a shortcut to go from the entrance of town to the Grand Company headquarters, or something along those lines.

    Windurst is not gone or anything. ^^;
Nor is Heavens Tower. Not sure what you have heard but... (Pssst, it's not truuue.) Even during the war in the past, though things do seem rough if you go look at it, we did prevail!

And yeah, Waters also takes two maps and whether or not any of them are huge, it is a pretty big area when compared to the other cities, where I think there are more NPCs and other stuff put into a smaller area, more tight, while in Windurst they are a bit more scarce.

I remember years back as I first visited it for the first time, as Bastoker. It did feel bigger for sure, but I wasn't ever really bothered by it. What comes to XIV, I have not felt the need to be able to warp around a city, especially not Ul'dah, which I think is quite small actually. Gridania doesn't seem big to me either, but Limsa Lominsa can be a bit annoying to navigate at times. It would certainly be better if it had more access points to certain parts of it, which sometimes require one to make quite a loop. In that it is a bit similar to Windurst I guess, that it does have things kind of scarce.

Anyhoo, just wanted to say that Windurst and friends has not gone anywhere. =þ
Perhaps to you they are, but to that I say: Blubb!
    Carry on.

By the time you've loaded the game after warping, you could have run anywhere within the cities, lol. What a pointless feature to even bother implementing.

As for Chocobos, it would be a good idea to let us ride them from a logical place instead of forcing us to dismount as soon as we try to cross the city zone line. For example, we should be able to cross the bridges to Gridania and Limsa Lominsa on chocobo, both when entering and exiting. It's a pain to have to dismount and run across these areas on foot.

A choocobo cutscene and a warp don't really aid in getting you anywhere quickly. For people who want to watch the chocobo cutscene, i wouldnt want to stand in there way. But it wont help you enter the city on chocobo. You will still have to walk all the way in on foot.

The warp thing sounds pretty stupid too, imo.

We used to walk much more before Chocobos, I don't think it will be a problem.
But I'm not against it, it should make things faster.

While we're at it the cities should have chocobo highways, I'd love some sort of backalley path in Grid I can take the choco from the adventurers guild to the market wards, leave it somewhere, do some shopping - get back in my ca.. I mean choco and ride out of the city gates!

In LL you probably need to drop off your choco at the entrance "after" the bridge, that'd be kind of cool too... people riding across the bridge dismounting at the front of the gates then running up the steps.

Uldah is small enough you don't need chocos so probably the same idea as LL.

Heck if they re-do the maps they should add choco friendly roads in cities, that'd be awesome!
