SE, stop releasing content that excludes most of your players

I'm talking about FC workshops. I was very disappointed to read the following:

Airship Exploration Voyage

We’re planning to introduce new content where you explore uncharted islands with your crafted airships. Multiple parties can explore the same island at the same time. The concept will be to defeat lots of strong monsters. Gathering nodes are also available on these islands, so once the island is secured by the battle team, gatherers will be able to gather items to take back.

We wanted to give an old MMO-like feel for this one, and for FFXIV it'll be fresh content that hasn't been seen before.

So, even though there isn't enough housing for folks to have a house, let alone a crafting workshop, even though there are many FC's without even the required number of members, SE expands the feature to provide even more content for this exclusive club.

The statement from SE that you can invite people to a crafting party through the PF is ridiculous. I've never ever seen such a thing in the PF and there is absolutely NO REASON that anyone would ever want to join such a party as there is no benefit to anyone except the leader.

Please stop releasing and then expanding on content that is deliberately excluding paying subscribers.

You can also access Airship Exploration Voyages from Ishgard Airhship yard if your FC doesn't have a house/You don't have an FC.

Way to jump the gun there.

It is mostly designed for some players, but thats all, doesn't exactly exclude, only might favour some, some are more capable of. IT IS still possible to enjoy that comment without even being in a FC, if you have a FC but no house/airship you can still grab your mates and go there.

its like alexander savage, there are players that would like to do it, they can, eventually still do it, but will have more dificulty than others. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of how its designed and that we need that sort of content, but technicly, it ''excludes more'' and its still great.

It's simply about what its mostly designed for. The new crafting sistem ''excludes'' more of a casual crafting, in terms of getting red scripts. everything in this game and in everywere else is designed with a crowd aim, thou it does not exclude them, its simply less designed for such.

When the first information about exploration voyages was leaked, I greatly resented the idea of a few FCs being the de facto gatekeepers of substantial content. Hearing that we'll be able to rent airships or however that'll work from Ishgard eases my concerns considerably, though I'm still concerned that home owning FCs will have access to superior content/rewards through their crafted airships.

The point of my post is that content needs to be accessible to everyone and not limited by poor planning. The first example of this is FC housing as it was first introduced. Only FC's were able to own a house at astronomical cost and you needed to own a house to access gardening, chocobo training, chocobo colour changing. It took many months to make personal housing available so that others could access this content BUT this was still at astronomical cost and then, as we all know, they did not provide enough housing plots so that everyone could access the feature. People are still locked out of this content.

While it is good to see that this exploration does not require a FC crafted airship, remembering the housing fiasco and lies that were told by SE regarding accessibility and cost, I will hold off my excitement until I see how it is actually implemented.

The real question is why must SE design workshop crafting in a way that is so exclusionary? What is wrong with allowing the crafting to take place without needing a group? Remember, the group actually doesn't need to do anything at all. It just exists as an artificial barrier to access. If you have several crafters, you will have an advantage as the work can be shared. You don't need to extend that advantage all the way to flat out baring anyone else from participating.

So you think the devs should instead create things only for the lowest common denominator?

My FC has a house but no FC airship, there are also literally 4 of us in the FC.
We decided, upon hearing the news about the Airship stuff, that we would put forth the effort to make our Airship so we could do this stuff.

That's not exclusion, that's giving you a godsdamned goal in the game that isn't capping currencies and buying loot.

You want to do Airship exploration? Well hot damn, maybe you should put forth the effort to get a house and then build an Airship with your friends!
And please don't spin the crap about "i dont have enough people in my FC to make an airship!" because you can invite other people in to meet the player requirements. Hell, i see it all the time in PF.

Its not as if the Devs are telling you that unless you are in an FC with an Airship right this very instant you will never ever be able to enjoy Airship Exploration. Hell, its right there on the bloody description of the system that those without an Airship can use the Ishgardian ones to do it! You don't even need your own airship!

Good lord people. Do you lot ever actually think about what you're typing up before you submit it?

Great, airship price and airship materials gonna sky rocket even more. It's already hard trying to gather and buying the materials for the airship, now it gonna be even harder. Can't they atleast wait until the patch is near to released this information? I thought SE already learn in the pass already that it will kill the economy and market board by releasing information too soon before the update happens.
