yes, tho it wasn't with minions but actual monsters that you had to capture using a soul trapper.or in other words, capture monsters like you did in pokemon using a pokeball lol
in the beginning alot of players did it when it came out, but it died out really quick, mainly because there was no real reason to do it, and there was enough other content in the game that already sucked out every players soul haha.

So maybe this is what they meant when they said they already had the next cross-over event planned. For anyone who doesn't know, Lord of Vermillion is a popular japanese arcade game published by Square Enix. I wonder how close the FFXIV version will be to the arcade game?

Apparently it was a joke in a Dev's Blog post. But they went ahead and made it. I'd still much rather have the NPC-relationship system instead of this, tbh...

Watch everyone rushing to this when it's released... and watch it die down extremely quickly. Reasons will be: having to get the minions we want to use again because they'll have to be special with stats and everything; not every minion will be usable; the whole thing will be an incredibly mind-numbing grindfest, just like TT and Chocobo racing - a frustrating mess instead of downtime fun.

Yeah, I guess the list can be expanded: bad rules / cheating / exploits, bad controls / lag being major factors in it, no interrupting a battle so it can't be done while waiting for DF, payouts so low that they just won't be worth the bother....
