    Heals, DPS, and comms

Noticed this thread over on Reddit...

For those that don't want to click it, the short version is the poster did an experiment over several runs with EX roulette dungeons. He received more comms on runs where he did not DPS but kept everyone topped up, and less when he DPS'd and let HoTs do most of the healing work.

My previous perception had been that cleric stancing makes no difference but it looks like it actually hurts our standing with the party.

    Thoughts, comments?

Results vary. If your party is paying attention and sees you actively dps, usually 2 or 3 comms at the end of a run
On the other hand, if they are tunnel visioning their dps, and tank hp is ping ponging from cleric stance dance, it makes it look like you got a sloppy healer and the tank leaves with the commendations.

I used to get a lot of comms from doing dps on my sch pre-HW, but lately it's usually just 1...2 if lucky. If I just straight up heal, it's usually 2 but that kind of behavior puts me to sleep on sch so I rather not queue up at all if I'm feeling lazy to dps

Highly anecdotal and does not prove or disprove anything due to small (and uncontrolled) sample size.

Also does not account for people not caring to give out commendations. Also assumes that the healer deserves comms over other players (namely the other "visible" party member, the tank).

Don't make much of the situation, and DPS as a healer. Faster runs benefit you, as well.

It actually does account for both points, if you read it. It was a pretty simple experiment: Long term, which playstyle nets more comms? It's not like he just ran a single or even just a few dungeons (Over 100 dungeon runs for each playstyle...)

Not that it doesn't have limitations but if one style consistently gets you better results over the long term, well...

I try and pat attention to everyone and see who really does the best in the run. If someone does something to really stand out or makes a really good move then they will get my comm usually. it is all subjective but I try and make sure dps gets attention if they are doing well also.

Please directly quote which lines from the Reddit OP's post deal directly with the two points I mentioned (people not caring to give commendations + assuming the healer "deserves" them above anyone else).

Last two months : 110 dungeon runs, 76 commendations. Average : 0.69 commendation per run.

Who cares about commendations? I don't want a dungeon to take an extra 5 minutes because I decided not to cut on cleric stance for the run. That's my choice. Just like the guy who doesn't like to cut on cleric stance for whatever reason. I don't really care. I'd rather have the dungeon end sooner rather than later.

The OP is looking far too into this.

Oh, there's still a very strong case for DPSing. I just found it interesting to see how others perceive it...

Pretty much this for when I give comms too. For example,a bard that plays foe requiem for the dps'ing healer in a full melee pt. Also, a good/fun attitude helps with comms too...no one will want to give want to give you a comm if you come off like you got a stick up your.....anyways! Plenty of things play into it, IMHO just don't treat exp roulette like a chore and you'll usually come out with a good/decent run.

As for the data gathered, like my earlier post said, results vary from pt to pt
