    Lower level CNJ

Just a quick question; I'm currently R23 CNJ, and since 1.19 none of my spells seem to really do any damage. I'm topping out at about 70 damage with Thunder/Fire and my DoT spells fail almost all the time. Is anyone else getting the same problem, or is this 'normal' now?

To add on to the OP's question, what can I do to manage MP more efficiently, now that I tend to burn through most of my MP trying to solo stuff? This is assuming I'm trying not to party, I just want to level at an OK pace - I'm fighting stuff at my level to 1-2 levels below me.

Use spiritsong (halves MP costs for 20secs) and do level 20 guildleves until level 24. You get fire II, Aero II, Blizzard II and so forth and you'll start doing dmg again.

If you want easy mobs to solo go to 38, 23 in La Norscea - just north of Gullperch Tower. Crabs there are level 20 - 22 and gives from 100 - 175exp each. You can easily take down a group of 3 - 4 without breaking a sweat.

Leveling THM to level 20 / 24 also helps with the mana.

use the thm spells banish and scourge don't waste your time with conjurer stuff unless you know enemy weakness and even then its not worth the effort. Banish 1 and scourge 1 will out damage almost anything over time because almost nothing resist them/you lower the enemy elemental resistance when casted on them, and also tier 2 spells only do maybe 100 more damage than tier 1 its not worth the mp/per cast and recast.

One thing i will say its that tier 2 get buffed a lot when you use the skill: profundity, but its a big hassle to look up enemy weakness only to find out it only does maybe 50 more damage than banish and scourge spam and not worry about what is weak to who. It sucks its this way still till this day but if you test them out you will see what i mean.

Banish and Scourge are powerful, but elemental weakness matters for these as well.

Fire, Lightning, and Wind are Astral elements, whereas Earth, Water, and Ice are Umbral. So you should cast Scourge on enemies of Astral type and Banish on enemies of Umbral type, in theory.

I noticed while fighting Nest Commander (Earth) and Pyrausta (Lightning? Astral anyway) this morning that there was about a 20% difference in damage and a noticeable difference in partial resist rates when using the correct spell.

i'm a much lower CONJ, but i noticed the same thing. fighting astral mobs, i was throwing down Scourge and then rotating between Aero and Blizzard (for recast times) and getting about 50% more damage total.

ex: scourge hits for ~60, banish hits for ~40. i can rotate those indefinitely or...
scourge hits for ~60, blizzard hits for ~40, aero hits for ~40, at which point scourge has been off recast for a couple of seconds. and two conj spells cost about the same MP as one thm spell!

Also, don't use cure so much if you are; use Sacrafice from Thm. Make sure you have buffs up and if you don't have featherfoot or especially defender; get them. They help with Evasion and Defense respectively. Defender is also a great 30 minute, yes minute buff. Con is not a very solo friendly job BUT, as you learn it via soloing you WILL learn how to manage MP. GL!

Well, bit of grinding and I'm CNJ41, almost 42 now. The difference once I hit 24 was amazing, and the class got better and better. I use Defender and leveled THM on the side for Siphon MP/Sacrifice II/Scourge II/Banish II. Awesome class now.

Also noticed how the CJN changed at lvl 24. Getting the II's in magic attacks really helps alot. Also Banish II from THM is great. Haven't met any mobs that had high resistance against Banish.

Mobs either greatly resist banish and is very vulnerable to scourge(or the opposite).

    Your rotation should be

    astral/umbral -> major weakness -> weakness -> minor weakness.

so for imps you do banish - fire - lightning - wind repeat.

For goats you do banish - water - blizzard - aero

For puks you do scourge - blizzard - water - any element
