Pally dps in A1 Savage

Posting for a friend, I'll keep it simple. What's the accepted strategy for Pally main tanking faust. He has concerns with doing max dps while keeping hate. He's been told that he should be around 800 and both he and I thought that seemed high and hard to do. So what's the deal. Strength accessories? Sword oath? Is he likely to have hate trouble if he goes full dps mode? Thanks for the advice.

There are many method to do faust and because i do not know what his method is, i would say just go full vit w shield oath. Faust is the real boss there, oppressor is just the little guy. As for 800 dps? lol if the healers can keep him alive while faust increases in buff and OT gets hit by adds then go for it, he the can do 800 w full str n sword but if not, max he can prob do will be 400 w vit n shield oath. (

not sounding realistic with pld i mt faust with warrior and do deliverance bursts asap; etc.. 700dps area. Main tank, not offtank I cannot imagine a pld doing that and staying alive.

Personally, my static has the PLD hold everything. SwO for 2 stacks (compensates with Foresight + Conv, then Rampart), then ShO for the rest. @6 stacks I take Faust and pop all my CDs until he's dead. This gives our group more raid DPS than anything else we tried, but our PLD also isn't focused as heavily on DPS maximization as I am. If you're just tanking Faust alone, 3 STR + 2 VIT would probably be ideal (split damage on 2 tanks makes healing + DPSing a bit more rough, so going full STR would make things even riskier). SwO until 5-ish stacks, compensating with CDs, then ShO for the rest.

I imagine it's possible. I mt on WAR, starting in defiance, swapping to deliverance during opener and swapping back at 50%, and pull an average of 920. 2 vit accs only.

That's on WAR though, swapping my stances is off gcd. I imagine a PLD could average a nice 750 like this with today's gear but only if a nin or war is debuffing Faust.

I hold faust / all adds on warrior but I find it hard to do a full rotation when I do this so my deeps are a bit low but this allows the second tank to dps hardcore in full str. If your friend does something like this, his 800 dps goal probably wont be necessary.

You are joking about Faust being the real boss right?

Well since PLD dose the lowest DPS of the 2 we put ours on adds since most of time he s not putting full DPS out so I DRK keep on Faust with grit off, shadewalker on me and then just wail away at faust. Not saying a PLD can't do it but for a easier run DRK ornwar on Faust.

On the first week in run without a ninja/warrior (so no slashing debuff) I did test with a "turtling" setup doing what seemed to be a mostly max dps rotation in Shield Oath the whole time (to give both healers more time to dps), and was getting about 560-570 dps without any stance dancing. I guess between 600-650 is possible with the slashing debuff if you dont do any sword oath stance dancing and massively minmax with the current available str setups.

How much time you spend in Sword Oath is dependant on a.) do you have a ninja for threat transfer (so you can start in sword oath without needing some Shield Halone rotations for early threat) and b.) how comfy your healers are. On the runs I did do Sword Oath runs it was perfectly fine to do it until about 4 stacks, any more was getting a little hectic, but could probably go further now we're better geared.

Well, I just think Faust is harder than Oppressor lol. so that is why I believe he is the real boss.
