    Perception and Collectables question.

What exactly is the relationship between Perception and Rarity?

The appraisals say, "Increases item rarity by Perception x1." I'm wondering what this actually means. My Perception is over 600 so it obviously isn't x1 and even getting gear to increase my perception my appraisals are not rising and are instead capping out at a base of 115(no buffs) which is the same thing I was getting over 60 perception ago.

Is there some sort of cap I am unaware of?

This is a bit depressing as I'm wasting my time getting this gear from red scrips only for it to do nothing except waste my time.

It caps at 115. After that perception no longer increases the amount. However the amount of perception that is needed to cap is higher for higher level items.

The ''perception x 1.0'' always sounded like a mistranslation to me. It was probably originally ''full amount of perception'' which really only means all of your perception effects it, not at a 1.0 conversion ratio perse.

I could be wrong, but I think that the tooltip is an extremely poorly worded attempt at saying that Perception is the stat that the Appraisal Efficiency is based off of.

Consider crafting. Progress and Quality actions have Efficiency. Progress action (Synthesis moves) Efficiency is based off of you Craftsmanship. Quality action (Touch moves) Efficiency is based off of your Control.

I think it is the same thing here, the Efficiency is based off of your Perception, but as stated above, it does suffer from a cap.

Have to agree. Before I got my lvl 60 gathering set I dumped into a bunch of perception hoping to be able to get 3 or even 4 from a node for blue scripts but found that it never went up and the tooltips were complete lies.

I feel like the tooltips are just giving relative values, like with Efficiency on crafting skills (as mentioned above). So, Impulsive is 90% efficient where Methodical is 100% efficient, and the worthless one (whatever it's called) is 80% to 150% efficient.
