Request to add <st>, <stpc> and <stnpc>

While trying to write up some macros last night, I pulled up a list of valid target placeholders from ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com

I was surprised to see that they had listed <st>, <stpc> and <stnpc> (which I did not know about in FFXIV... I used them ALL the time in FFXI), so I eagerly made some macros with these placeholders only to get an error for each one stating "<stpc> is not a valid target name." I assume this is because these placeholders aren't enabled in ARR.

With the adjustments being made to macros here, could the dev team also please look into adding these placeholders into XIV? I realise they may not be as useful for kb/mouse users, but for a controller where targetting can sometimes be a right pain, it would be awesome to get these please!

the wiki you mentioned to me seems to be largely out of date on many regards. (my own preference is gamerscape wiki) I have to admit I'm not even sure what sub target means, but maybe some of those listed in the Lodestone offer viable workarounds.

The way that <st> works is that rather than target the player then hit your ability, you would hit the ability then <st> would let you select the target. <st> also used to be referred to as "shifting target" in FFXI

Example:

/ac "cover" <stpt> (shifting target within party)

cursor would only let you cycle/tab between party members (and would ignore any alliance members). You then click a second time and the ability would activate on the target.

Its not vital, but it is a nice QoL thing, especially for those who played FFXI

This could help controller players in particular is in things such as targetting issues (trying to tab between so many targets gets frustrating to cycle through when the controler cycles through both PC and NPC players at the same time)

Sounds like target filters are the thing this time around for that purpose, especially on console users who can define them to be active on press of different buttons.

The filters are annoying as they help in some cases but then hinder in others (like if I am 4 manning ex primals with titan tank.. I normally have other people's pets filtered out but I have to manually adjust this every time I want to be able to heal or cast a buff on a titan egi... OR I have to put my weapon away to then be able to target the egi to then cast a heal on it. with <stpt> I could cycle through the party members (including pets) without having to constantly mess around with the filters

Mm, I was under the impression that there is additional filters (that need to be activated?) So even your weapon drawn, you can select which filter to use of few predefined ones. And if "party with pets" is one you use often, you can define that as one of the additional ones. Haven't used them much myself as I'm on pc, need to check on them when I get into the game.

Just a heads up, there's a list of macro commands in the macro menu. It's not quite as easy as having it on a second screen, but the same list is in the database on the lodestone as well. Go official xD

I don't know that this really fits for FFXIV. There's always <mo> for cursor targeting...
