I want to cook food and stuff, are the specialist skills enough to get me by?

Heya new to crafting, I want to try being a Culinarian but I don't think I really have time to level all the other crafts. Are the other crafting jobs really super needed for Culinarian?

You could probably squeak by but you won't see any consistent results without some of the more important cross class skills.

Aww, thank you for the quick response. I'll have to take starting it into consideration then.

You really need to get the majority of other craters to lvl 50 in order to use their cross-skills. High level food will be otherwise challenging or impossible to make them HQ.

This is probably true. Specialization is absolutely contingent on good procs, so I imagine that you'd probably have to spam the level 60 ability multiple times in a craft to get more consistent results and to extend a craft for as long as possible.

Quite possible I think, but not pretty.

Level 50 carpenter, weaver, and alchemist with level 15 armorer is the bare minimum for cross class skills. Get these at the least, them combined with the skills from level 15, 37, and 54 culinarian will server you well enough.

The way it is right now, specialist is more of a liability of wasting your CP and adding anotehr layer of RNG than being helpful, espesically on later crafts where the amount of good procs become less.

Alchemy to 54 will net you 4 of the nicer skills
    Tricks of the Trade
    Comfort Zone
    Brand of Water
    name of Water

CP surplus with high progress (With eco-melded level 60 gear it'll put you within spitting distance of completing normal crafts within 2 strikes)

Those of us with all 50s see specialization as a waste.

But for someone like you it could be a blessing.

I would say everything to 15. Then as Foxy said:

Level 50 carpenter, weaver, and alchemist with level 15 armorer is the bare minimum for cross class skills.
