    Repairing someone elses gear

Has there been any word on this? Players used to ask of this from the devs back in ARR, but this has been casted aside like the idea never existed.

The /lookingfor_____ commands can be put to use with Repairs. Even at a default NPC repair price this would be a good thing for crafters to actively, or even inactively(automated) do with their progression.

Currently we have at least 80% of these icons next to our names:

    taken from http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Dictionary_of_Icons

    and look there it is!
Looking to Repair, and even Looking for repairs!

I can see a bunch of crafters by a raid entry location with this icon above their heads, being there for the core raiders of the ffxiv community instead of having them teleport($$$$$$) and use an NPC to repair their gear. Even if they have to default the price based on NPC prices.

Sure they could level up CRP, BSM, ALC, WVR, ARM, GSM, LTH....okay this is getting out of hand. but sometimes

I personally am 60 in all crafts since like 3 weeks ago. Currently cooking food for my casters.
A single Static member can repair the gear of his 7 friends so that they don't have to face Faust again, or even get booted out of A2Savage after getting their gear shredded by goblin deaths and explosions. Is this really a gilsink? Can we... Can we look forward to this? What are your thoughts readers?

Really not sure why this isn't in the game yet to be honest.

I hope it's okay to just Necrologos this thread — it says basically everything I wanted to say, but better (excepting the meme image).

As someone who voluntarily maxed all eight DOH, I feel frustrated seeing discussions on the Subreddit about players trapped in Duties with broken gear, as well as by my own experiences being in Duties with players who were caught off-guard by sudden equipment breaking.

It would make me feel proud and happy as a Crafter to be able to step up in these situations, and fix someone's gear as easily I can help with a Meld request.

In fact — as of 3.3, NPCs have stolen Crafters' (non-Forbidden) Melding work. Let Crafters steal Repairs from NPCs!

Why this was taken out in the first place is beyond me. It's very helpful.

Agreed, or even better let them request repairs while in the trial\raid\dungeon etc. I wouldn't mind it and it'd let my raid member use me for it rather than leaving for repairs. Have them carry their own matter for the repairs just like meld requests.

I agree, unfortunately the problem will then be that they aren't carrying the catalysts or enough gil to get their gear fixed. The amount of people I've seen who have all level 60 crafters but never carry catalysts is astounding (& disheartening).
