i can see this being the case, in fact he is right. The first thing the game tells you to do is leves, and honestly mopst brand new players wont try to group up till around level7 or 10. Leves are very lackluster low level, and the exp is based on your level. you can only get chains for monsters your level or higher, and your base sp is based on your total to next level. Im not saying its impossible, but i think the average newb is going to end up getting pleveled from 1-10, because its way easier and faster than anything else by an insane amount. Gear is infact mmore important, so is optimal level gear, and to be honest, i dont think there will eveer be a lot of low level items in the market wards.

Of course, maybe they need to spend longer at lower level ranges, it was kind of insane before, but id imagine that being low level will probably be one of the most difficult times.

There is quite a bit of misconceptions here recently.
Nope, it's just people trying it out for themselves and realizing that what I say is accurate. New players definitely were hurt significantly by this patch. I really shouldn't have to be powerleveled to effectively get through the first 10 levels. Also, I still think you aren't being 100% accurate with your timetable on leveling. I've come at it from every conceivable angle and can't get anywhere NEAR level 10 in 2 hours. I've tried leves, I've tried behest, I've tried chaining mobs my level, I've tried just killing low level mobs as fast as possible. It just isn't happening solo. In a group, or being powerleveled sure. Lnc solo just doesn't have the recovery tools without cross class stuff like second wind.

    Ouch

I got to Rank 9 pre 1.18 in 1 behest. This sounds broken to me.

Are you nuts? Pretty much every game has you get armor for your job and armor that is YOUR lvl. I don't know what your problem is honestly. This is basic for any RPG.

And the difference is, in every other game you recieve a LOT of your armor from quests, or you can buy it for a reasonable price from vendors, or craft it easily yourself. In this game, none of those options are available to new players. There are almost 0 quests that give armor rewards at low level, the armor from shops is outrageously expensive, and crafting your own requires you to level multiple crafting classes to 10+.

New players are slammed right now, which is retarded, as you're driving away new or returning customers who're here to check out 1.19.

Dated gear = crappy. non optimum gear = crappy. then add in nobody has even started making the new 'uncrappy' gear yet. We had a bunch of new players on today, and they struggled.

Until a lvl 50 found the level difference restrictions were gone, and power levelled the shit out of them.

    GG on balance there.

The dated stuff combined with the fact there is no new gear for sale yet, COMBINED with the fact crafters being the greedmongers they are (the economy was wacky anyway) Are gonna charge through the nose for the new stuff because they can.

So the newbies are running around in their starting clothes, weak as hell, unable to fight stuff of the same level in a lot of cases. They don't have the kind of money for the prices the new gear will cost. and crafters will only be interested in the 'money synths' anyway, the gear the lowbies need just isn't going to be available.

GG Guys, you actually created a mire between rich and poor. In a video game.

New players got rammed, and it's a shame, cause this patch was pulling genuine interest.

    .
Which happens in every MMO. Here's a challenge:

Join any established MMOs, the older the better, and see if you're able to afford a lot of the good gear for your level on the AH or vendors the very first 3 hours of your career.

Two come to mind immediately. World of Warcraft and EVE Online. The last time I played LOTRO there was plenty of low level stuff to get in addition to the quest gear that was serviceable to progress with.

I agree with this, I stopped playing WoW a while back, but beginning gear wasn't difficult to get. I still currently play EVE and it's the same there.... unless you're a dumbass like my friend and buy weird crap he can't use for weeks.

Well obviously. but factor in that new players here are so broken and weak it's going to be an absolute nightmare getting ANYWHERE. There's not much chance of those new players working themselves up to bigger and better things, as is the case with those other games. anyone can achieve in those cases, But this patch clearly favors the no lifers who've stuck it out in this broken world for a year.

Why screw the people who actually left and have taste and standards? they're interested in returning after all.

Either way you look at it, balance is screwed and the adjustments are fail. cause the only way I've seen low players successfully levelling since patch? Power levelling. big ol' level 50 popping mobs for massive skill ups. and THAT is crappy design imo.
