This happened to me when I was first trying to figure it out. You got to make sure the hotbar you are using as extended is not being shared and also to not appear when you are using actions. My attack options only appear when I hit L3 to draw my weapon. So that kind of makes it easier to figure out how to set it up in my opinion. But basically make sure it is unchecked from the all the hotbar options in the configuration area. If I remember right, my extended is hotbar 4. And set four is not checked at all. Not for shared, not for when weapon is drawn or anything. So it only shows up by either using L2 + R2, or by holding R2 and choosing set 4. My suggestion is try going into the hotbar options, and unchecking set 8 and go from there.

o.o that seems pretty neat, however I don't use macros. Don't even know how to set one up. But I'll look into it. ^^'
edit: lol i'm not gonna lie, getting super confused reading how to do that. Especially since I play on ps4, and I think that that is more towards PC playing.

I use the extended hotbar mysel. I used two "pages" for all my main combat skills, with the most frequently used set on the first and keep rarely used, "utility" skills on the set for R2+L2.

That way skills I need like sprint, cleric stance, sheild or sword oath, and nocturnal or diurnal sect, but will only use once or twice in an entire instance, are accessible but out of the way. I put my SCH pet actions there, too, otherwise it would be insanely difficult!

If you have to switch stances use macros. When I select deliverance it switches to one hotbar, and when I select defiance it switches to another. I put my abilities L2+R2 and R2+L2. Super easy.

Example, I play with 2 crossbars normally, I can fit everything (blm&whm 60) in two bars nicely. But thinking about sch or smn, I WILL need a third bar, and I tried this "extended crossbar" option.....

Did it mean the system default ex-hotbar for pets which is not editable ?

Btw, read like you never use pvp actions... as you can "fit everything" (blm&whm60) ^^;

i don't know if theres a way to adress this qol issue or if it hasn't been suggested, but as heavensward appear new usefull skills that not replace old ones came, meaning that we have to "push" more buttons.

so what i'm asking is that if there any way so that L1 button can be assigned to an additional bar like LB or RT shown in the picture below, or if you could use the buttons to map in normal hot bars, as of rigth now only use for L1 is for auto run and is kinda useless on battles.

L1 lock the autorun is so important! How come you want to remove it!
During in a battle, range/healer will use it frequently, melee/tank will use it while kiting as well!
unavoidable there are some keys required your left thumb, so at this running moment, L1 autorun allow you free up your left thumb for pressing the up/down/left/right button immediately without stop running^^;

Not to mention out side of battle, while running, flying..etc, you can acess any xhotbar key without stop moving.
Therefore please think of other "uesless" button, but not this very important L1 autorun.

I don't pvp as whm or blm ^^ and mainly because I just can't play with 3 bars. I pvp as brd and have brd set up especially just for pvp.

Haha, I absolutely hate the autorun! I removed it as soon as I worked out how. I'm adjusting the camera position and zoom constantly, and it would sometimes activate causing me to run into aoes or even off the edge in Titan.

But you can remove it yourself so not sure why it's an issue.

More related to the topic, 2 hotbars plus extended is perfectly useable! I don't think anything needs changing at the moment.
