Dear Lord, another thread from the Harbinger of change, Nekulotos.

Please folks lets this die, he just does this to get into post wars with people who actually understand what is going on. He'll argue every valid point you make. It is useless, refer to his many other threads for verification.

Titles are irrelevant to me as I never use anything but a particular one. Mounts are irrelevant because I only use chocobos, and I think the Commander's set is ugly, as are all the PvP sets. All of those are essentially cosmetic incentives outside of Esoterics and Poetics (both of which are generally gained more quickly through other content).

Contrary to your narrow-minded view, I do, in fact, care about PvP, and find the grind to be rather intimidating to the point where it takes the fun out of actually doing it. This is a progression oriented game, with most of that progression tied to gear--and there is no gear progression in PvP presently until you've done several hundred matches. That's silly.

Yes, the top gear should be for the dedicated PvPers, but that doesn't mean there can't also be lesser level 60 gear for people to acquire on the way up.

Yes, like every other part of the game there is gear that you gain as you go. You also if you earn the higher level 60 gear you can use it to help you get closer to the next piece.

If other parts of the game did this... you would have a DEAD GAME.

It wouldn't be pointless. It wouldn't have accuracy (most PvP gear is Crit/Det weighted), and Morale pushes the item level higher than the level sync. While you can collect other gear in PvE that won't have accuracy and cobble together a decent set, it's not as satisfying in terms of a reward structure. If there was starter gear, there'd be something to keep you going (and given how you end up swamped with Marks long before you're anywhere near getting your Rank 46+ stuff, it would certainly "feel" good to be able to spend it on something you can actually use).

It does have progression in the form of merit points to allocate to your pvp abilities, far more important than any gear you could buy with marks. Right now all pvp can be done without morale in i160s, so do the grind like we all did back in 2.2-now, and get your gear ready for ranked WD(Sorry you came late to the pvp party, but that doesn't excuse you from the same exp requirements that we went through).

Progression is earning gear on the way to high level rank you can use. You don't start "Progression" until you can do the zones that get you high level gear.

You earn each piece and wear it until you get your next pieces until you have a full set. That is "Progression."

There is no progression in PvP.

The "Merit Points" are useless unless you are not in a PvP zone, thus there is no progression. Progression is the rewards you show your friends and guildmates after beating a boss. (Aka like wearing a piece of gear.) and you get more and more as you play.

I thought you wanted to remove rank restriction on the high end gear so that you can use it, not spending points. So in that in perspective, you'd be fine if the current requirement stays, but you can buy ilvl 150 gear at rank 40 and lower which are remodels of dungeon sets.

I got the feeling that when next set of crafted accesories comes BC3 materias might do a comeback, so better to do some stockpiling before that happens :P
