RP Servers?

Welcome to Sargatanas! I have to say OP you did a way better job at trying to spell the server name then most people who've been on here since the beginning, haha!

I say ignore the jerks who bothered you & your friends. I may not Roleplay in the sense of talking IC or whatnot but I like immersive play so I emote to NPC or other players IC, and if anyone tries to laugh at me for it so be it. Not like I'm ever going to see this person, so hello blacklist & have fun random person trying to annoy me, lol. While Balmung is where most of the RPers are at, as others have said its is almost always locked because its a 1.0 Legacy server/Unofficial RP server.

I suggest staying on our server & don't let those jerks ruin the rest of Sargatanas for you. We actually have a lot of really nice & helpful people on this server as well. I know no one in my FC/LS would ever be mean like that to someone.

I still say best way to solve this issue for new RPers coming to the game is all the current RPers demand SE make them an Official RP server (like they said they would back in beta!) with the release of the new European Data Center & then offer everyone a limited time free One-Time Server Transfer to encourage people to spread the population around.

That way Legacy members on Balmung that have friends that was to play with them can finally make characters on that server, and then Roleplayers new & old can have a more open server where people don't have to shovel out RL money just to be able to RP with like minded people.


But if you do decide to try to get on Balmung may I suggest trying to make a character just before a scheduled Maintenance, like literally minutes before the servers go down. Either that or you'll have to wake up at an ungodly hour and try paying real money to transfer you existing character there.

I do have a question: how does one attempt to promote a server being a RP Friendly Server? I've never done it before, and I think my friends and I would love to give it a go so that we can start another RP Server for everyone who can't get into Balamung or Gilgamesh [I heard they are RP Friendly too].

Create a linkshell and advertise!

I reside on Ragnarok, which surprisingly has quite a bit of roleplayers on it. However I never found an actual linkshell on Ragnarok, or any comparable place where roleplayers could congregate, so I myself made a decision to create a linkshell devoted to roleplaying. After doing so I advertised for it, and you won't believe how quickly the members filled up. I was very surprised. But today a lot of us have made friends under the roof of the linkshell I created, and we can stay in-character all day and enjoy the community. The linkshell is very dear to me, and I devote a lot of effort to keep it running so that my members can feel comfortable. I even made friends with someone who eventually became my significant other because they found out about the linkshell, so I would absolutely encourage anyone to do the same if they find themselves on a server with seemingly few roleplayers. It's not like you have anything to lose right? Create a linkshell, promote RP, and you might find a lot of players are looking for exactly what you were looking for all along.
