Bring Back Original Steps of Faith as Hard/Extreme Mode!

No one liked it because it offered nothing as a reward. Effort in an MMO demands a reward.

You are aware that not every regular version of the trials had rewards, right? When you do the original versions of the primal trials, there is no chest to draw lots for. In fact, I think the only exception is Thornmarch. So yeah, the "no reward after clearing a trial" excuse does not hold water.

All the other primals could be done quite easily, Steps actually required a few people to cooperate with each other.

Believe it or not, people still instant leave this if they are in it.
So no, leave it alone and not make it even harder for people to complete their main story quest.

They said they're not working on harder modes of existing primals (I suppose that includes all trials too), better to invest that time into new primals. They could bring the normal mode, but I don't see how you'd get people to do it.

I guess that really depends on if they are going to actually give us new primals or just throw in a couple dungeons and call it a day. I would much rather have Extreme versions of existing trials like Gilgamesh, Chrysalis, Steps of Faith, 12 Knights, Dragon Neck then to get nothing at all. Give us small rewards like accessories, big chunks of esoterics, or something else to make it worthwhile.

Why wouldn't they, didn't we get them every major content patch during 2.x? I can seem them lowering the amount of dungeons from 2 to 3, but removing primals altogether? I can't see anybody standing for that, not even the people who'll defend SE to the death.

I'd love to have an extreme mode for The Singularity Reactor though, I don't see that being out of the picture as it was only introduced in 3.0.

But in this case it's content that already existed, just that it got nerfed into the ground. Bringing back original Steps should cost no extra development.

My question to you is how many people even bother with "The Ultimate Ballad" aka Ultima HM? because that is the closet comparison to what you are asking for.

Not to mention if they did add it, it would get throw in with ultima and odin and not be included in the roulette so would have a very small player base wanting to do it on a regular basis.

Even if it dropped accessories because I don't see them wasting time making armour sets or weapons it will become irrelevant stupidly quickly as more ways of getting gear are introduced each patch and the highest possible ilvl goes up, leaving only the few who want an achievement which they'd get in one clear.

They'd also need to retune it because who is going to sync down to 50 for this? and the fact most people who "would" run this already beat it before the nerf, why would they even bother if nothing changed?

Do you honestly think no1 did the ultimate ballad? And your numbers argument is invalid. Even if only 25% of the people playing the game would enjoy content like that. Do you really want to see that 25% start unsubbing because there's nothing appealing to them in the game?

I'm sure it wouldnt be hard to tune it for level 60.

EDIT: It's perfectly ok to add content that not necessarily 100% of the people would enjoy. Otherwise Gold Saucer wouldn't even exist.
