    [SPOILERS] Dragonsong Lyrics Theory

From what I've seen, most people seem to jump to the conclusion that the lyrics to "Dragonsong" are sung by Hydaelyn or Shiva. While both of these make sense to an extent, there are a few lines where this simply doesn't fit:

"A throne, lying empty. A reign, incomplete. Alone, for eternity. A pain, without cease"

To me, this seems like it is more likely to be sung from the perspective of Tiamat. She's one of Midgardsormr's first brood, but not as directly a part of the Dragonsong war as Nidhogg or Hraesvelgr. She fits well as a distant bystander that has done nothing but watch the war unfold in her grief for thousands of years. The part about being alone for eternity and feeling a pain without cease also fits well due to the fact that she has given herself that exact fate for what she did when she resurrected Bahamut. The only question that I would still have is what is meant by the throne lying empty and the incomplete reign.

Let me know what you guys think about this!

Unfortunately, the song is not likely sang from any one perspective, and has no more meaning to it than to sum up the general theme of the storyline, the theme of this season, much like Answers did for 7th Umbral Era/ARR.

    EDIT:

My take: Ishgard. Thordan. Hraesvelgr. Nidhogg.

Maybe.. but could Hraesvelgr really be considered alone if he is perma-bonded with Shiva?

Tiamat and Bahamut also fit there nicely. That's the problem though, and it's the same problem that was encountered when trying to pin a singular meaning to Answers years ago; there're are simply too many pieces that fit into too many different places. Though, the puzzle is fun to play with, none-the-less!

It's really up for interpretation. "Answers" sounds like it was about Hydaelyn and the soldier, but in the T13 it makes it sound like it was about Bahamut (now Tiamat also) and the Mercaydian dragons in stasis.

At the very least it does sound more like a 3rd person perspective on what's been going on.

The Throne Lying Empty symbolises Haldrith refusing to be king after Nidhogg's defeat, A reign incomplete is a symbolic follow up to Thordin I death in said battle.

Alone for Eternity is Hrasvelgr losing Shiva and the Pain with out cease is Hrasvelgr losing his sister Ratatoskr to Thordin I and his bother Nidhogg to Nidhogg's own blood lust induced insanity.

The song it's self is almost like a Hymn being sung in lament of the Dragon Song War. You could almost argue that it's Ratatoskr's Spirit singing when you consider the final verse

"Children of the land answer this, why must you turn to empty bliss? Tell me why break trust? Why turn the past to dust? Seeking solace in the abyss.
Tell me why create, a circle none can break? Why must you let go, the life you will bestow? This I fear I'll never know. <Pause> Never Know."
