Whether you get hate or not, you speak the truth.
Yeah, it's strange when people argue against parsers claiming they would promote this kind of "elitist" behaviour when it reality we know every group is likely to have someone parsing already and every situation I've personally witnessed where people have been blaming or kicking others for "low DPS" has been done by the players who are doing low damage themselves and obviously aren't using a parser...my favorite experience in Bis: I was in a group where me and a drg were over 800. Which isn't super awesome, but we were where we needed to be to clear the fight. Nin was at about 500. Brd was under 400. We couldn't clear. Nin raged at brd, quit group, saw him with his own pf within 5 minutes "low dps will be kicked, don't waste my time." We just replaced em both and 2 shot it :P
I don't see this being true. The reason is the entire game was designed and coded around PS3 being included and the system doesn't seem very flexible. Just for example there were some minor changes talked about before like cool down resets after full team wipes and they couldn't Because the way everything was. When they get rid of PS3 I think the game will improve, but only minorly short of an entire rehaul on the system. And I just don't seem them doing that.
Although very true for "features" in general, I don't think a parser has anything to do with client-side hardware issues, even for a PS3.
The data is already there, it's spit out to the battle tab. Nothing extra has to constantly flow from server to client. Nothing extra has to run on the client.
The server will just read the battle tab info that's already there, do some processing (again, on the server) and then spit a single result out to the client. The single result can be spit out at any time, it's not something that will put any pressure on client hardware.
The battle tab is already sending way more numbers over to the client every fight, during the fight. A parser will only send 1 more, and it can even wait until the character is "out of battle" to do it during "down time." I think the PS3 can handle it. ...I think my calculator could handle it![]()
QUESTION for the Live letter:
----------------------------
Dear Yoship,
Are there any plans to implement an official dps check for personal use in the near future?
Thanks

This would be hilarious , hilarious due to the fact that it probably would happen and hilarious bcuz the party organizer is to stupid to realize that parsing results from a dummy and actual content are two different spectrums lol
From the Live letter :
---Status of the Beginner Hall
The Beginner Hall (tentative name), is essentially a training mode. We’re currently in the midst of fleshing out what kind of training would work for each job and the training regime. We don’t expect to make it in time for Patch 3.1, but we would like to implement it in the subsequent patch.
Could this be our own official parser?
