I honestly wouldn't mind if it was the WoL who does the "barging in" and not another one of our Echo-using friends. It would tie into the theme of Heavensward that you're getting really, really super dangerously powerful and that there might even be a reason to limit such power, even from the perspective of your allies.

Louis(mumble) was able to take all the Warriors of Light out of the time stream for five years, and everyone reveres him. Would they fear him if he hadn't sacrificed himself in the deed? Do they start fearing us, if we show ourselves capable of things such as interfering with the Estinidhogg struggle?

That's the direction I'm hoping they're eventually going to go in, but I'm not getting my hopes up.Louis(mumble) was able to take all the Warriors of Light out of the time stream for five years, and everyone reveres him. Fearing us us less likly thab worshiping us. Then we get worshiped, while carrying aound ALL SIX crystals of light, along with out Echo and Blessing of Light, and watch the Ascians try to Echo Jack our body with Zodiark's soul. If Ice Heart could become Shiva who's to say we couldn't Become Zodiark....Now that I think of it, could that be what Thordin saw in his dieing moment?

Honestly its quite possible that if we use the Echo to save Estinien no one will really know or understand how we did it except our closest allies who know the capacities of the Echo and I doubt they will have a sudden change of attitude. We have already killed primals and brought down conquerors. I suspect if we did it most would pass it off as 'the WoL figured out a way just like they always do'.Louis(mumble) was able to take all the Warriors of Light out of the time stream for five years, and everyone reveres him. They might try and set us up for sainthood. If so I wonder where they will put up our statue and if it will have glowy bits like some of the other statues.

Considering that the Echo is considered by some to be witchcaft (hence the excuse for Minfilia getting arrested for it at the end of 2.5, which I thought was a clever and subtle throwback) and it's considered outright evil in the Empire, I think it's only a matter of time. Our character is on borrowed time regarding the Echo, they've been shoving its strength and importance in our face with this expansion, it's definitely going to play a very important role some time in the future.
Actually even Taledgi didn't know what the echo was even enough to call it by name. He said the Scions were brainwashing the Alliance and we were brought up on charges of Corruption, Espionage, and Conspiracy. Be kinda stupid to yell "They're Witches!! BURN THE WITCHES!!!!" in a world where Magic is extremely common place. Now BLACK MAGIC is forbidden in Ul'dah but it was very clear none of us were black mages (As the MSQ would treat BLMs as THMs for simplicity's sake).
So the Echo is.... Relatively unknown. The Alliance leaders (Just the leaders), Scions, and Ascians know for sure that we have it. And only the Ascians themselves truly understand what it is. I would personally assume the Elementals are aware of it and by extension the Padjal who commune with them, but the elementals don't seem to want to talk to the WoL so we can't tell 100% if they do or not.

i may be reading this wrong, but echo is also known by the garlemald. Well they don't exactly know their ''eikon slayer'' has it. But they condemn everyone with the echo, since it can be used and IS used to comunicate with beast tribes, and is i think, one of the ways it eases the summon of a primal. And taking in mind Garleans relationship with primals, its to be expected.

Taking it out of context actually.
A FEW Garlen Legautus know WHAT the echo is but the empire as a whole is mostly unaware of it as is most of Eorzea.
Garlemauld wants to study it for Anti Primal/Eikon warfare. But they want ti study it because all the know is it makrs you omni lingual and makes you immune to tempering. So small wonder the empire finds it intwresting, omniliguistic abilities would eleminate all language barriers and imunity to tempering removes the only real threat to.their conquest.
But my point was Eorzea is mostly unaware as is the common Garlen Civilian and Infantry. Only a select few Garlens and Eorzeans know of it and inly the Ascians know the full extent of its power. (Or at least claim to)
