It seems that 80% of the equipment in the game is now "Dated".
Do you guys think this entails that they will be removing that equipment at a later date and replacing it with all-new equipment?

the recipes are being changed
They already have, so to say. Most dated equipment can be converted into Materia, however it can't have materia attached to it. It's a way for them to clear out old items and replace them with the new ones.
Smart really when you think about it, eventually the database will be clear of the dated items as they will have been converted.

I don't think they are removing it. It just means it won't have a spot for materia.
It just means an item that you made with old recipe, i don't think it's going away, but it's no good either to keep it because not meld-able.
They already stated awhile back that eventually the old recipes won't be valid. I believe I read they're aiming for 1.20, but could possibly be 1.21 to fully transition to new recipes. The equipment itself that's left in circulation won't go away, but as others stated, it's really only good for materia fodder from this point forward.

Punctuation is your friend. It deliniates the difference between "Let's eat, Grandma!" and "Let's eat Grandma!"
So basically, these items will be around as long as players allow (i.e. they don't NPC, trash, or convert them). Are they no longer being sold by NPCs or given as quest/leve rewards?
Either way, this is exciting news. Must be they have a whole lot of new gear in the works.![]()

Q: since I'm looking at JP side bug report for 1.19, you guys having problem switching gear using pre-1.19 gear swap macro? JP side saying they have to redo all their macro to add the dated in front or it doesn't work anymore.
Just wanted to check.
I only got to play for 30min last night but seems like lots of bugs going on lol
You are correct, they'll still be around as long as people have the means to make them or hoard them.So basically, these items will be around as long as players allow (i.e. they don't NPC, trash, or convert them). Are they no longer being sold by NPCs or given as quest/leve rewards?

I believe most of the gear now sold by NPCs is all 'new', and doesn't carry the 'dated' signature.
I haven't done any leves where gear rewards are offered; however, dated items are still the manufacturing points of local leves. I think part of this is because the new leve system still isn't fully in-place, and why we have no new leves yet. Whether this means dated gear rewards via battle leves will be available is up to someone else to answer.
And i'm not sure if you caught the post a few days ago, but for crafting changes alone (not including new items) you can see it's quite extensive:

In addition, the Lodestone synthesis recipes now contain everything from 1-60, and there's a lot of new stuff there as well.

Yup all gear macros with 'dated' in the new title must be re-done...
