More lively worlds, Can I have it?

Currently the world is "static". Every time I visit Tailfeather, the same NPCs are at their spots, the same bunch of mobs roam the surrounding areas.

Would be nice to have some additional dynamic NPCs. And by "dynamic" I don't mean "random" - that's just as boring.

    e.g.

A group of goblin traders at a certain Eorzea time each Eorzea day will travel from CWH to Idllyshire, along the way they might get jumped by bandits or attacked by dragons ... etc.

If players are around to save them in the associated FATEs,
    • they make it to Idllyshire and
    • a vendor there will have the materials he/she needs to make certain items and they will be for sale
    else
    • the goblins having lost their goods turn back for the day and
    • the Idllyshire vendor won't have the specific item for sale

This is a very simple example. It would be more interesting when there is a web of relationship between NPCs.

PS: If your reply has the word "convenience" or any of it's derived words in it, I don't want to hear it. Convenience was what made WoW's world as boring as watching paint dry.

God no, player actions should not mean whether or not a vendor has items for sale.

    Why not?

You can always go essort the goblins yourself if you are hard up to buy the item.

Edit: The funny thing is, items on the market board are already dependent on "player action". You going to throw a hissy fit about that too?

    1. If they're vendor exclusive it's just an annoyance and will affect the market for said items
    2. It sounds exactly like a FATE
    3. If it's not vendor exclusive then nobody will do it

    "annoyance" = inconvenient

FATEs are random and meaningless, they have no effect whether you clear them or not.

My goblins are "predictable", they depart the same time every day. The attacks they get (which will be in a form of FATEs) will be random though - or they may not, you can have the attack location and who attacks depend on other factors.

If you miss it on one day, just wait for one Eorzea day and try again - no different from farming unspoiled nodes.

    1) there's nothing wrong with players being able to affect the market.
    2) FATEs that are more meaningful sounds like a good idea to me.
    3) people do FATEs anyway, they should just have a larger affect on the world.

i would love it if failing the Odin FATE changes things in Gridania until Odin spawns again.

and add some consumables for Odin Mantles, Behemoth Horns, Coeurlregina Horns like Ventures/Cordials, etc.

This isn't exactly new. The satlhound camp, highbridge, and redbelly hive do this to an extrent. I think bishop just wants more fates with consequence, which, while it ain't no Campaign, could be step in the right direction.

I can think of one case in the game like this.
The vendor that sells the Baby Raptor minion is only available if the "Clearing the Hive" FATE was won.

I remember because when I tried to get this minion I was annoyed by having to wait for the FATE to spawn since it had previously failed.
So I say no. XIV's world is not boring to me.
I would much rather have convenience.

I dunno about anyone else but I watched as Revenants Toll evolved. I've also noticed some camps changed too, like Bentbranch. I'm looking forward to watching Ilydshire grow throughout the 3.X patches. It is a living growing world, just not on the scale the OP is looking for i guess.

This mentality is why we can't have nice things.
