I'm an old player getting 2x exp; my girlfriend is a new player on 1x exp. Backwards?

The patch notes seem to suggest that new characters should be getting double the experience between levels 1 and 50. I've recently moved into a flat with my girlfriend and last week we had our broadband set up. I convinced her to give FFXIV a go and she's now bought the game and I've bought her a 60 day timecard and she's fallen in love with it, but we've noticed a problem:

I'm an old player with a few level 50 characters already, but my level 8 THM is getting double the experience she gets on her level 10 MRD. If we both gold a FATE together, she'll get around 1,000 to 2,000 experience whilst I'll get 2,000 to 4,000 experience; equally when killing monsters together she'll be getting around 80 experience and I'll be getting around 160.

What is going on here, shouldn't this be the other way around?

You are getting the armoury bonus, which is applied to any job that's lower than your highest. So anything below your level 50 character will obtain additional exp.

Oh I see. Is this double experience for new players something which only comes into affect if Heavensward is active on the account then, or have I misinterpreted the patch notes? I'd just assume with double the experience she should still be getting around the same or more experience than I am.

Which notes are you refering too? I'm assuming the 3.0. All I can find is....

'[2.0] The armoury bonus when below level 50 has been increased to a 100% increase in experience points gained.

From level 50 onward, the armoury bonus is a 50% increase in experience points gained'

Your missus wouldn't be gaining an armoury bonus at all.
