Just properly rotate coodlowns and you can't lose against that boss, no matter how terrible your party is:

Everybody gets low after an altar pyre? Indomitability.
Everybody keeps getting hit by random stuff? Precast a Whispering Dawn, your party is covered for the next 20 seconds.
Whispering Dawn runs out? Cast Fey illumination.
Fey illumination runs out? Fey Covenant.
Still struggling? Virus on boss right before the next Altar Pyre.
    Repeat this process.

As a SCH, you have a zillion of tools to literally go naked at that boss and still dance the manderville eventually. Just use your spells appropriately, don't burn all CDs at once, keep rotating them. Your tank must NOT die. If a Derp DPS takes an AOE + doesn't move with chains + gets hit by statues and dies, it's their own fault for failing 3 mechanics in 3 seconds. What you can't allow is tank dying (and that's entirely in your hands, even if they are bad).

Once, when I was leveling, both DPS kept being hit by whatever it was thrown on them. I simply let them dead and focused on the tank, who was good. He kept attacking the boss and I healed him. I Rezzed the MNK in time for the LB and the fight was over...

*This is not an advice of what to do in this fight. I'm just saying that if the DPS are more an annoyance than anything, let them dead and show them how to dodge ;-)

This time for the vault I was finally able to bring my PLD and the SCH was new. I was i139 I believe, about as good as I can get. We had two melee though, so I figure this could take longer amongst other things. It's pretty easy to rotate a cooldown or two for just about every mob pull and have the ones you want up for the bosses.

I explained the heavy AoE damage to be prepared for and they had Eos and used WD when they needed to. They suffered a little bit and maybe it was the NIN that wasn't getting him unchained fast enough towards the end. It was hard to see while avoiding those AoEs and moving around for chess. But I practically used every cooldown I had in the fight, and Divine Veil was up at the right time too. Got down to hallowed ground to help them recover. Didn't eat a single AoE, nor got a bleed.

I do believe if you have a DRK or WAR that it helps to get their INT debuff up on him too before Altar. About the only thing I don't like in the fight as a tank is really having to move the boss more than I like because of last phase chess pieces and then AoEs showing up right where you were going to tank him. Its mostly avoidable, it's just DPS might get caught up in it if they don't react too.

In-fact I got to use Hallowed Ground 3x in that dungeon, and got three comms in the end. There are tanks that won't even use it once to help out a healer. Tank cooldowns help a lot.

I hate that so much. They complain that they didn't get heals fast enough but they had HG ready for an emergency. They know I recently used benediction and they are doing very large pulls so they probably won't get a last minute get out of jail heal from me so why not use the tools you have? It's like some Tanks are scared of blowing their CD's. Seems to go one way or another in DF either they don't use them enough or they use them all at once then have nothing for the next pull.
