The "raid leader" should be whoever is the most comfortable with the fight and its mechanics. That might be the tank, it might be the healer, or it might be a DPS. No one should be pushed into explaining if they don't feel comfortable doing so, regardless of what their role is.

And, frankly, there's a certain burden on the people asking for an explanation as well. If you're going to demand that someone else take the time to explain a fight to you, don't get upset if their explanation isn't as thorough as you'd been hoping, because they have no obligation to be your teacher.

I 9/10 times will always explain or summarize the mechanics of the fight.
I explain the fight NOT to help you/ baby spoon feed u.
I explain the fight so you DONT WASTE MY TIME.
Simple as that, i could care less what u do in other parties. But if ur in a party with me i expect us to clear the instance before time runs out.

U learned something new? Good for you, go tell ur friends & family
    U earn a gold star!

This is sadly a by product of the whole "tank decides the pace of the run and tank decides if we do a EXP run or a SPEEDRUN". Players are turning alot of the choices that should have been WE into a I (for the tank), because of this we expect alot more from tanks then other rolls. This harms tanks, because this put unnecessary pressure on them, tanks are often required to know the tactics, compared to the healers and dps. Afcourse there are alot of tanks who take advantage of this and become "DA BOSS" they act like selfish pricks who dont care about their fellow players and when things dont go their way, they pull a hissy fit and blackmail their fellow players with leaving a dungeon (so they have to wait a long time for a new tank).

As a tank, healer and dps, I have seen both the ups and downs of being a tank. OP I think there is nothing you can do, you explained and they did not like it, its best to deal with it and move on.

That is the difference between a 'Leader' and a 'Boss'. I am a patient leader and a team member, but occasionally my team don't want to cooporate.. I try and if no use I appologize and leave, not for being high and mighty, but really some disrespect time and insist on trolling. That I won't tolerate.

Exactly. At work, something my boss always drill into me that there's a huge difference between being a manager and being a leader. Anyone can manage. Being a leader is a whole different ball game.

I have more important things to look at than calling out who's getting hit by what.

My raid leader is a BLM/AST/SCH.

I agree. It's not the tanks job. Anyone who knows the fight can explain it easily. Heck, the most commendations I got in one run was from a Steps run where I guided everyone through as my MCH. A leader isn't defined by what job he plays-- he's defined by how he acts, his willingness to take charge and to teach and guide people.

The only leadership I expect from tanks is them pulling mobs. They set the pace of the dungeon, yes, but that's about it.

I just say what everyone else tells me when I say I'm new, "dodge stuff". Usually goes pretty well.

I dont mind explaing fights, I dont mind a few wipes on peoples first runs (or even if their experienced sometimes) and hell I'm tank but I ask for advice myself on new encounters (i dont like video guides on story events sometimes for fear of spoilers lol) - but it does annoy me when people with better gear then me stand there and expect me to play teacher all the time.
This morning for example Lost City on Roulette - party was 2 lv60s (me and a NIN dps who had better gear then me, I gear checked), 1 lv52-53ish Healer (gear check est.) and a newbie SMN DPS- we get to final boss and it goes:

    NIN: "Just burn him down?"
    ME: What about doors?
NIN: the SNM can do it
    ME: he doesnt know mechanics

We pull we wipe after his masive attack.

    Round 2:
NIN: he didnt do the doors
Me: Its his 1st time, he doesnt know mechanics so not his fault
    SMN: What do i do?
NIN: You expain it to him (meaning me)
ME: Er no as I Tank I dont to the doors so I dont know what door you open, DPS have always done the doors
    *silence*
    ME: explains the basic idea
SNM: speaks french (I faceplamn in RL not because he french but because he probably didnt understand me)
ME: NIN your clearly also lv60 so can you please get the doors?
    WE Pull

*Mid fight* NIN: I'm meele DPS i cant
ME: so stop DPSing for a second and get the doors

We wipe again, new guy leaves and DRG pops in and manages to open the doors.

    ----
Sorry but the sheer laziness and expecting me to explain something I've never actually handled (never roled DPS for it) and just because I'm Tank - give me a break!
I love Tanking, I dont mind explaing things and tbh I like helping someone clear something first time as it helps progress them and the community, but I'm not defacto strategy guide and I cant do everything - I'm not god lol.

I've run a lot of LCoA and as a healer I always get told to do the doors. I have never once in my life seen a DPS get a door... Though, it should be more than 100% possible to burn the boss. I did it on my BLM not that long ago, with a new i90 NIN and we ignored doors.
