There is a ton of quests and content and other things in WOW... PVP doesn't affect all of these aspects. I have 3 max Level characters and didn't even go through 50% of the quests in the game.

Interim solutions are for pansies.
immature = not agreeing with you. Got it.
You ask the dev to not listen to "immature" posts, yet you post the most immature, self-centered, post ever. There is a lot of debate about adding certain features to the game such as Jumping and PVP.
I will take those 2 for now as they are the most popular but it can be applied to other topics.
For those against Jumping, I respect your opinion and all but so far i have not seen a single reasonable argument not to add Jump to the game. The crazy thing is that in a post from Yoshi-P on the japanese forums he said he saw that people mostly are for adding a jump option but don't want a WOW style spamming and that he will take that into consideration when implementing it.
What i have against this approach is that i don't see how "I don't want WOW jumping monkeys running around Eorzea..." is a valuable argument. It's like making a petition to force SE to remove emote because people are abusing it. And no Jumping does not break immersion cuz if it does, a dozen other things already in the game have the potential of doing the same so let's all remove it right?
Is it really normal or the mature thing to do to completely dismiss a feature because few people are abusing it? The same thing could be said about a billion other things and i'm sorry but to me it makes no sense.
PVP is another example. Open world PVP will never happen and that is because too many people are against PK. Why? Because a few morons camped your ass and killed you over and over in WOW? I mean for me personally... when something like that happened i just called for backup and it was fun to give these people a taste of their own medecine and see them run away. Yes Yes i know, FF is a PVE game mainly but i don't think that most of you realize how well done PVP can be really fun and honestly make us interact with one another even more.
To those against open world PVP i propose this....
Cities and the areas around are neutral grounds. No PVP can take place there unless it is friendly duels initiated by both players/parties. Other areas could be contested territories and this is were open PVP and PK can take place... but wait! for those who don't like that, SE can add a on/off PVP flag option. Turning on the option means you are open to PVP and can be attacked by players from opposing..."companies?" turning it off means you are neutral and do not want to take part in that aspect of PVP.(Nobody can attack you)
Wouldn't this please those who are against it? I mean with that system you can't give me the argument of "i don't want to be attacked while farming" Those who wish for open world PVP will be happy too. There is absolutely no negative impact for those against open world PVP so if you disagree with me please give me a valuable argument.. same goes for jumping.
Congrats.
Please mods lock this thread before it get even worse with trolling.
So tell me this one then how is World PvP supposed to fit into the game. As stated many many times before Final Fantasy has always been about people gathering together to defeat something and save the world. Not pitting ever one against each other. I can see how weekly Conquest was viable in FFXI as the three nations were always trying to fight for control of Vana'Deil but in Eorzea no one hates each other instead we are supposed to all be fearing the great invasion from the North. With this bit of lore open world PvP is not truly an option unless they make either Beastmen Tribes PC's or institute the empire as a option, neither of which I ever see happening. As for Arena PvP or even some sort of Ballista I'd be fine with that. If and I mean if when they go about balancing classes they don't end up in the "Balancing Death Spiral" that most if no all MMO's end up that have PvP.
Ya.. i mean people are like "we don't want WOW style spamming of jumping" which to me makes little sense of an argument to chose whether or not to add a feature like jumping to the game. Yet as per the translation of the post Yoshi-P made... he said he will take in consideration the complains people made of not wanting jumping to be spammed like in WOW. Again he caved it to those who whined.
So i'm just afraid he will cave in again and again regarding other matters and will end up turning FF XIV into a niche. I don't want to play a MMO where i have trouble finding people to team up with... i want to play with as many players as possible...

Could be an aspect of companies. Maybe Companies could be rivals... competing against each other... PVP would make sense and fit into that context. But enough of the PVP... i also mentioned jumping. So tell me this one then how is World PvP supposed to fit into the game. Not adding it cuz pple will spam it is not an option or a valid reason. The same could be said about emotes. Anyone as any opinion on jumping?
PVP would be best implemented in Ul'dah's coloseum, in an instanced way where you could "reserve" an arena, and the game creates an instance for that, for you and any challengers that wish to take you on (depending on the settings of the arena).
If the reserved arena is set to "Public", spectators can enter that arena's grandstands at any time. For "official" matches, there could be a betting function for gambling on the outcome of the match (Just in case: match-fixing would get you banned from the game), and other possible features.
Making the arena instanced for PVP reduces the chance of outside interference, and also increases the Arena's utility from a PVP perspective. You could have open PVP matches (free for all), PVP duels (1 vs 1 or Team vs Team), or "winner-stays" tournaments. Official "bracketed" tournaments could be held by Square Enix, too.
This is probably the best solution for PVP in FFXIV.
