    [Suggestion] A way to add auto-attack

    Posting a new thread since this idea is based on current battle system, not fitting the other auto-attack topics' content.

    The idea for this auto attack is to keep using repeated basic attcks so the player don't need to keep confirming or worry about confirming every attack while battling.

    Since its an "easy mode" feature, planned more for new players (veterans often would just prefer to use auto-attack off and have access to full stanmina gauge), it doesn would need a command line and, if possible a button similar to spells' "area effect" when you select a basic action so players can turn it on/off at will.

    while on, the first half of stanmina bar would be reserved, with the auto attack only triggering when the stanmina charges enough for that attack past the reserved amount.

    Example: Let's say a stanmina gauge can store 10 points and light swing uses 2. The first 5 points will be reserved so the auto attack will only trigger the action every time the gauge reaches 7 (the reserved 5 plus 2 for light swing) points.

    The reserved stanmina is for weaponskills, spells and skills. You might ask why to reserve this...because some skills use large amounts of stanmina and, if the auto attack keep using the stanminea til the end, it would cause problem to players when they try using this skills since the actions would be locked until he store enough stanmina for that action. An easy way to understand the why of this reserve is to burn all your stanmina during a fight then use provoke ou second wind.

    Like i said, this would be an "easy mode" option for players, allowing smoother fights for new and average but not being the best option for veterans since a player that know how to use the stanmina gauge would prefer to just have full gauge free to use.

    My thing with AA is then weapon delay would have to be brought into the game and that would mean more time spent by development to balance those mechanics.

    I am a mage player so that being said I am not usually spamming just one button just hitting everything from two roles of the abilities bar, so AA wouldn't much affect me.

    I am also hoping for auto attack but I trust in the FFXI battle Team Leader now working on XIV (I forget his name I apologize) to balance it in the best form he can. I don't endorse suggestions cause you just can't be sure what else is going on behind the curtain like they can. I do encourage ideas though~

    Anyway I am all for auto attack, and slower but more meaningful actions in combat.

    I see where you're going here and it's a unique idea. It's like changing the system from active to automatic. You can play using auto-attack but it carries the penalty of reduced stamina bar points which is fair.

    Personally, reason why i like this game is because there is no AA, but then again if your busy with other things (Example: your cooking and trying to play at the same time in a group and Chaos breaks loose) having the ability to turn on/off Auto-Attack would be great in a way.

    there was a post on auto attack but this was my opinion on the matter.

    there is nothing wrong with not having auto attack ..for the love of God please don't add auto attack se. it's not really a huge spam like some have said. and u still need to pay attention to u'r gage less u'r that mele that didn't have enough for provoke or to add a battle regimen quick enough cause u'r a one button smashing. besides this the part i love about it, it removes all the leechers, the half afk'ers, the duel botters, and anyone that does these are brought to light in seconds. fact i was one that liked where the very first sp system was going, they should of fixed that one not brought us a version of ffxi exp system again. please se don't bring back all the bad things of ffxi without the good and taking out the good of ffxiv and leavign the bad stuff. again no thanks please for auto attack, this game has already aloud players to watch a majillion hours of tv while playing with u'r crafting don't do it to the battle system too lol.

    Exactly this. ^^ Its the player who decides how to play. He can play manually (as it is now) and have full control of his actions or use the automatic mode, which make things easir but restricts his gameplay a bit. ^^

    About what weeble said, not having auto-attack is not a problem to me...i probably won't use auto-attack either. i'm just posting because, if they are thinking about adding it then i'd like it to be the best way possible. and that's why i do suggest the option of toggling it on/off...so those who don't want it can just turn it off. ^^

    Auto attack is easy to implement even in the current battle system. You just make it toggle on/off by holding down 1 and then it will automatically do your basic attack once your stamina bar is full. Simple and effective.

    However the entire battle system is undergoing a redesign as Yoshi P. has stated in recent interview's so that system might not be around in a few months time.

    what will happen is people using auto attack then will probably just get kicked by players not using it if it does help move the sp along. if it doesn't then it's just pointless, it's like playing a shooter on u'r wii (for fun) when u know everyone else is using a controller. 2 different games. people dont do things for fun in mmo's. if it not force fed or worth doing it usually not done. even pvp some will probably say, controller vs keyboard victor who? hopefully they just don't make it worse like they did the targeting lol.

    The main reason for me wanting an auto attack on a toggle is so that I can socialise. With it I could fight as normal then if someone said something I could hold 1 activate auto attack and reply without worrying about me standing there doing nothing, when I have finished my message I could deactivate and carry on as normal.
