    Dev Request: Crystal Tower clear required for new 24-man raid

    At the moment very few people queue for the Crystal tower raids and many people amy just skip it entirely.

    I think Crystal tower should be required for the new 24 man raid to alleviate queuing issues and for new players to learn/get used mechanics in a 24-man raid.

    It wouldn't work how you'd think it'd work.

    #1 problem being that a lot of people already have their CT clears. And the people who don't will get them in the first week or two, and then will never come back - which leads you to the issue that people are locked out from the new raid, b/d nobody does crystal tower.

    They would then have to lock Alexander behind clearing all of coils as its the same principle.

    Crystal tower... players learning mechanics... AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

    No, they should implement a Raid Trial Roulette or something. People like myself want to continue running the old ones for glamour and pets we might not have gotten before. Forcing all the NEW players to run the old raid would just ensure that no one can clear the old stuff, and no one can get to the new ones.

    I mean, I just fell into a Hyrda trial the other day with seven new players, and the concept of "stack in middle when hydra moves there" just flew over their heads. Full 120 gear, wiping repeatedly, was only able to brute force it once Echo got high enough.

    I don't want to imagine what the three atomos fight in Labyrinth of the Ancients would be with those same players.

    All they need to do is update the rewards for the weekly CT/ST/WoD quest "The Gift of the Archmagus" to be something actually relevant.

    This could be a great tool for driving traffic back into those instances, agreed.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

    Actually I am a bit surprised they haven't done it. Weekly quest for 1 - 2 items used to upgrade gear from 170 to 180, for example.

    It's more of a wait and see mentality atm, it's hard to keep content relevant with current game design, however if they are implementing NPC "armies" then it may be possible to do said content with a smaller group, but only time will tell once it's actually implemented, or in a few days if they talk more about it during the 14hr stream.
