    crafting noob needs help

    http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...acter/8080980/ (my current crafter levels)

I want to get into crafting but so far all i have done is powerlevel my crafters pre-HW in my lack of things to do so i have no idea how i should focus on leveling. all but 2 crafts are 50 but only alchemist and armorer have i55 gear. (leatherworker and blacksmith are not 50). Should i focus on master crafting tomes as i gain exp doing them? or level up so i get better gear then go back and do them for recipes and lucis? or finish leatherworker and blacksmith and then focus on leveling and gearing into HW?

TL;DR How should a ungeared mostly 50 crafter focus on in HW?

Level BSM and LTW up the hard way. Use Leves if you wish, handing in ONLY HQ items but DO NOT buy any of the leve hand in items off of the Marketboard. The simple act of crafting your own hand ins (LTW may be a little harder at first, but both will be very doable as long as you keep their gear up to date, once you reach the lower-mid 20's) will teach you everything you need to know about the moves available to you, anything you may be missing from whatever shortcuts you took to powerlevel your other crafters.

Your other crafters should, at this point, have the Patrician's set (the top 2.0 generic set) or the i55 gear, right? To level them up, make 1 star stuff, mostly refining materials. Turn Darksteel Ores into Darksteel Nuggets, turn Gold Ores into Rose Gold Nuggets, etc. That will get you to 51. You may want to get both LTW and BSM to 50 before taking the others to 51, so they can share in the same general gear that the others are using, but that is up to you. Once you hit 51 start making level 51 stuff, again mostly turning raw materials into refined materials. Craft, if possible, any gear upgrades you need as you level into them. Level 52/53 gear should be more than enough to upgrade your current gear. Use Leves if you want, or just craft stuff.

Although, for materials refinement purposes, you want to keep your classes close together in level, you probably want to take Alchemist up before many of the others, because many recipes use materials that they produce. I'm referring mainly to Holy/Hallowed Water, and the Dissolvents, but there are a couple of other things too.

You do not, as far as I know, need to go back for the Master I or Master II books, but they will be considerably easier once you reach 58 or 60. I would suggest slowly working on the Master III books though, by turning in Collectibles (something you can do as low as 50 or 51) for the Blue Crafting Scrip, available with level 56 recipes and up. Just check with Rowena's organization, or your Timers, after unlocking Collectibles. Once you get all the Master III books, there are few things (mainly Bullion, that I can see, though you may wish to use the Specialist delineations) you will need to make more Blue Crafting Scrip for.

The Lucis tools have the same stats as the NQ level 60 MH tool. Useful, while leveling, but not enough to warrant stopping to go get them now. You may, for completion purposes, want to go back and get them at a later date; I just have my doubts as to whether going and getting them now would be worth your while. The closer to 60 you get, the easier they will be, but the less helpful they will be, too. And let us not forget the sheer number of GC seals you would need to spend on going from Supra to Lucis, or the cost of getting the Supra in the first place. I would not worry about them I'd focus on getting to 60 and working on the new BiS, not the old BiS.

You are hand over fist ahead of me because all the leg work to crafting has nothing to do with crafting.

I came back with all 50 crafts, 50 mining, 48 Fishing and 43 Botany.
As you can tell, I ignored DoW and DoM and I also ignored MSQ. My crafting is locked behind hundreds and hundreds of quests that are in no way related to crafting.

You are going to want to get Botany up, fishing as well just because you might as well. All my levels are GC turn ins and just crafting various gear from level 42 to 50. You will find, I'm sure you already have that leveling isn't really that hard. You can do it by accident in many cases and it takes guess work out of other aspects of the game.

As for mastercraft, it's another ball of wax all together. I stopped forward leveling to get Weaver Desynth up and it's just more grind, it isn't hard. At 50, at 60, it's controlled by the DemiMateria you have really, DemiMateria comes from Desynthing and I can either level it or grind gil to feed to someone who has leveled it.

The way I understand the red script system and favor system, even if you don't plan to craft a great deal, you will have assets by getting gathering to script levels. I can tell you now that I won't participate in this end game crafting. Whatever universal sets are available at 60 is what I will end up with but I will likely make some use of the gathering and favor aspects and have stuff on hand, either to sell or just stock pile.
