    Final Fantasy XIV Has Stopped Working

    Okay, so I've been getting an issue where every time I try to click "play" in either DirectX 9 or 11 modes, the launcher/updater just crashes with the message;

    "Final Fantasy XIV Has Stopped Working"

    This has been happening for the past two days and I can't figure out what's causing the issue. I have done a clean install of the game but that hasn't resolved the problem.

    Really not sure what to do about this as it's pretty much killed the entire weekend for me so far. I have contacted support, but haven't heard anything back for quite a while now.

    Update:

    After a fresh install of the game it still says "Final Fantasy Has Stopped Working" in DirectX 11 mode. In DirectX 9 mode is just crashes completely and closes.

    Anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

    Update #2:

    Took 12 hours, but finally got word that I'd be contacted within 48 hours.

    This means that I'll be out of commission for 4 days at least...not exactly stellar customer support here if I'm honest. Guess I'll just have to wait, unless someone around here has a solution that I'm not aware of.

    Update #3:

    Still no word from technical support. It has now been over 4 days that I've had this issue and to say that I'm beyond frustrated with things is an understatement. There's no help anywhere for this and I'd love to know how they think this is any way acceptable.

    This forum is mostly for support between players, however, I'll try to help.

    First of all, it would be awesome if you could post a crash log.
    If you're on Windows 10 or 8.1, right-click the start button and open the event viewer. Go to Windows Logs and then Application.
    Look for anything marked as "Error" with a red exclamation point.
    See if you can find a log with ffxiv.exe or ffxiv_dx11.exe mentioned in it, then post that log here.
