and as i said in no way am i on the tanks side. but they decided to continue on while the tank threw a tantrum obviously making the duty more diffiult on themselves. whats it matter to any of us what these ppl do after they leave or get kicked? why the willingness to punish ourselves instead of removing these problematic individuals. im not seeing any logic here other than the desire to punish ppl even if it means punishing ourselves in the process

Once I had a healer that didn't think we could beat the last boss in a leveling dungeon after a wipe he says, afk watching family guy. So yea at that point have to get someone else.

Parent goes the easy route and gives them ice cream and cartoons, or goes through a little suffering themselves to teach the kid that no it is not okay to throw tantrums, that no, everything is not going to be the way you want, and that in doing so takes away from what the parent really wants to do?

There's no equivalent to vegetables in the analogy though. It's just give ice cream or withhold ice cream. When this shit happens there's no lesson learned or anything gained by being withholding.

Well, there may be a lesson learned if reports are made, and GMs hand out a temp ban due to disruptive behavior when these "Dismiss me" players hold the rest of the party hostage by not doing their job. If that happened enough, word would get around that FF is not the place for that type of behavior, and that's a good thing.

All these players want is a free ticket out of the dungeon without a penalty, so that they can queue up immediately for another one and impose upon the next group and repeat the process. As soon as something that they don't want to deal with happens, they'll just demand a Dismiss again.

Maybe. But none of those things really necessitate withholding a kick. You can kick em and then report.

Because we're all playing a game to deal with stuff we don't want to deal with, makes a lot of sense. Maybe the other party members shouldn't make a player's experience "something they don't want to deal with" in the first place.

Part of the point, the kid learns this lesson. Throw a fit, get what you want. Or, throw a fit and find out that doesn't work. Either way lesson learned. People have been taught that demanding kicks usually gets them what they want. So they keep doing it. Kid wants ice cream, throws a fit. Player wants kick throws a fit. Equivalent to me.
