"Please Kick Me..." - Just Take Your Penalty

what exactly is the reason ppl refuse to kick those who request to be removed? ive seen the demand for punishment or the demand that ppl continue to play with them, but no reason stating why.
please note im not for ppl who dont like the dungeon they got. if i can stick it out in aurum vale (even though its actually one of my favorite places) so can they.
but im seeing alot of ppl with no leniency or compromise here

So, right now my husband is stuck in a dungeon with a total jerk who is pulling this crap. IDK what the tank's problem is, but he's spamming "Dismiss me!" and adding a sound trigger to that somehow so that there's this annoying noise in addition to the chat spam. This has been going on for at least 20 minutes now, and the other three party members have been moving along in the dungeon without the tank.

And now, the tank has apparently logged out of the game. This has been a total waste of game time for my husband.

now im in no way on the side of the tank especially if he became a nuisance. but why not dismiss this individual in the first place? is it because he wanted to be kicked? ive seen ppl kick someone just for not having a DoT up or a drg not using heavy thrust. but we'll keep someone around who doesnt want to be there for the sake of principle

and if they were able to continue along with out him they could have been searchin for a new tank this whole time

Whether or not you want to kick them is on the party's accord. I'm never on the side of the person that wants to get themselves dismissed just to dodge the 30-minute penalty. The end result though should always lead to a collective report to individuals like that tank.

And instead of spamming and harassing the group, that tank could have immediately left instead of being a jerk about it and spamming chat.

this is a double edged sword now isnt it. in my honest opinion neither party took the more reasonable approach.

@Kolaina, if the tank didn't want to be there, he shouldn't have queued up for the dungeon. If you queue up, you need to do your job, not stand around and whine for a Dismiss the moment you think something has gone wrong.

This tank evidently thought the dps players were bad. The issue was more that the tank had very poor gear--and some slots were empty--so he was probably having issues keeping hate and wanted to blame the dps.

The party wasn't interested in helping the tank to dodge his 30 minute penalty, especially right after the first two pulls of the run. The healer filed a report, and a GM contacted her while the tank was offline, and said that logs would be reviewed and action taken if warranted, etc. When the tank returned--hoping that he'd been kicked already I'm sure--the party did vote to dismiss, and got a new tank almost immediately.

Sorry, but disruptive players need to get what they deserve in situations like that.

and as i said in no way am i on the tanks side. but they decided to continue on while the tank threw a tantrum obviously making the duty more diffiult on themselves. whats it matter to any of us what these ppl do after they leave or get kicked? why the willingness to punish ourselves instead of removing these problematic individuals. im not seeing any logic here other than the desire to punish ppl even if it means punishing ourselves in the process

I would say grant their request get someone else and move on with the dungeon that is what I do.

That would've been better, but he's obviously not going to, so why not just kick? What practical function does not kicking serve?

It doesn't help the group. It's just childish and petty. Very much a "you were a dick to me so I'm gonna be a dick to you" mentality. It's not like dickishness cancels out, now there are just twice as many dicks as there would've been.
