I appreciate the fact that you choose to continue to play the game and enjoy it for what it's worth despite having Multiple Sclerosis. You're not a "terrible player" by any means. Society, generally speaking, faults what they don't understand, and that doesn't make you a crap player. Also being open about it, especially on an internet forum, takes a lot of strength, so I respect that. Although I'm on a different server, I would still dungeon with you and I'm glad people have been nice about it.

I've done just about everything possible to avoid having to do precise clicks on the screen with my mouse. When gathering I have an in-game macro that targets and takes me to nodes.
So you have that mouse, ok then if you have found your self already using all of the keybinds, try to make new keybinds which are shift+whatever is binded for the mouse, you can effectively double the number of binds to do so or CTRL + whatever. The orbweaver design takes some getting used to but I personally found it exceeded the keyboard after a few weeks granted and using shift commands will also take some time but they do end up being a lot nicer to use once you get some practice in.

My brother had Duchesne's MD, he was very limited with his movements but he could rock a controller pretty well. He had a very hard time with PC games until we found a controller that worked for him. If you get in a FC try using voice chat if your speech is not impaired, there are a lot of things people can help you with, such as clearing the content for the story. It is very simple as in not complex but FFXIV can severely punish mistakes.y friends and I would really challenge ourselves to get my lil bro through content so he could see more of the games we played, and a lot of it he did without us. Its a great challenge for skilled players, and it lets you learn how you yourself can overcome some of the limitations that MS has thrown at you. I have dyspraxia, I cannot remember rotations, player wise or boss wise so I really have to hone my reflexes to react to something before I can even think about it. There are many limits for many people, it just a matter of finding ways to break them, even if it means learning something in and out so much so you start to do the"thing" before the duty gives you the cue, so if you flub in coordination a bit you have time to make up.

Probably shouldn't comment on these things unless you have some knowledge. Multiple Sclerosis is a nervous system disorder and generally comes with some degree of numbness in the extremities (with attacks leading to full or partial paralysis). This varies from person to person, but it's quite possible you just did the equivalent of asking a person mentioning they have a hard time with their wheelchair to just walk across the room.

@OP: My mother suffers from NMO (Neuromyelitis Optica) which is similar to MS in some ways. She was originally diagnosed with MS in the 90s, and then I forget what in the early 2000s, and finally with NMO which is a pretty newly discovered disease. Like MS it involves the demyelination of the spinal cord, but the cause in NMO is an auto-immune disorder where the body's immune system attacks it. It also attacks the optic nerves (thus, optica).

She prefers dungeons and plays well enough, but hotbar MMOs are one of the only games she can still play (we used to play a lot of other games like Mario Kart, various Zeldas, etc. but that's not really possible for her, anymore) and it will prevent her from ever being 'great'. She still does better DPS than a majority of people I pick up in DF (or even PF), however, and is only rarely the cause of wipes. The main thing for her is not caring, because, like you, stress causes her to have trouble. I'm usually on skype with her when we play and I'll try to remind her to take deep breaths and/or calm down and/or that it's just a game and it doesn't really matter and her performance will generally improve quite a bit.

I would dungeon with you anyday op. if you were on my server.

I would take your personality and attitude over sooooooo many of the others out there that potentially destroy this game.

Comments by a fellow FC member are what got me started on this thread. Generally, we've got a terrific FC, but one member is rather vocal about his experiences with "bad" players during dungeon runs. I've bitten my tongue several times midst his harangues. I, too, have been in some questionable squads -- the kind where my SMN's heals were the only thing keeping the tank alive. But I've caused problems at other times as well; so, you'll never hear me cussing about a failed squad.

I think a lot of *veteran* players have no memory of when they were new to the game, and there are many quick-twitch artists who too readily devalue those who are not so aptly endowed.

I'll never be good in combat, but I do net a ton from the market board -- I keep my six retainers maxed with sale items at all times -- achieving great wealth in-game is my goal. I did just that in WoW over several years, never did a single raid, but having maxed my gold carrying capacity on five alts made me feel like I'd won, and that's a very hard feeling to achieve in an MMO.

Just keep at it. Doubtful that your crap.

Also, I don't know. Much about ms, but how do you u handle a controller?

    Have you tried?

Coming from consoles myself befor pc, I actually play much better with controller than keyboard mouse for most pc games, with a nice setup once you get used to it also maybe it would be easier for you?

They said right in OP that they wanted to know how many other players have this condition, probably looking for information on how those people deal with their handicap. I'm not trying to speak for the OP but perhaps you should read the entire post.

I'm tetraplegic, so I can't feel half of my left hand, and some hand muscles tire easily if they function at all. There are times I got so tired by the end of a difficult run it kept me from hitting one button that could have changed an outcome. (For example, on my first time in Bismarck normal, we wiped a few times so I had time to grow very tired, so I couldn't hit the LB button on time. We had to do an extra wave of adds because of it.)

I don't usually make excuses, but I do kind of feel bad when things like that happen. That's why I level a healer, a tank and a DPS; DPS is much harder on me, so I like having an "easier" option when I get too tired. SCH is my go-to after a rough day. :P

Stop saying you're crap! Keep doing your best, that's already a lot more than some people can be assed to do. :P

edit; forgot to mention I play on the PS4, with a controller. :P It was MUCH harder for me to handle playing with Mouse/Keyboard.

I suppose the gating of the Heavensward Content is what's pushing you into this... seems like it'll be one rough road.

I highly recommend you find an FC friend who is willing to tag along with you, specially if you lack confidence.
That way you can have someone who will rant along with you by the end of it.
