Look at slot machines, they have zero what we would call content yet the people throw whole buckets of tokens in them because of the "reward mechanics".

Hopefully SE will continue to stay clear of such "tactics". At most, release smaller, more frequent patches so players will only be bored for short contiguous intervals.

I do not see how anyone can be bored with FFXIV. Seriously look at all I can do.

1) I can level crafts to get Glamour gear
2) I can level gathering classes to get more glamour gear
3) I can run 2.X content to get glamour gear
4) I can run Ravana to get glamour gear
5) I can get vanity housing stuff for my guild hall.
6) I can run hunts to get gear to get vanity gear
7) I can run dungeon to get token for 2 days, they can run more to get vanity gear
8) I can get achievements to get vanity gear and titles
9) I can do maps to get vanity gear
10) I can get vanity minons
11) I can earn gil to buy the vanity stuff I do not yet have
12) I can do PvP to cap weekly points then do it FOR MOAR VANITY!
13) I can play in the Golden Saucer for vanity gear
14) I can collect Card to earn vanity gear
15) I can collect vanity mounts

I CANNOT EVEN IMAGINE WHAT THE PROBLEM WOULD BE. Doesn't everyone play mmos for 100% vanity purposes?

But seriously outside vanity stuff the game consist of 450 tomes, Leveling Battle Classes, 1 drop from each Alex normal, and Alex savage.

The above list is why people are bored... some people really really hate vanity stuff. Like alot of ppl.
