Why are simple cosmetic changes so hard to implement?

In regards to Carbuncle, it's because of blatantly obvious reasons. That's not a 'fix' it's a hack, and a poor one at that. The people who are complaining about how their Egi's look are a very vocal minority, and not an accurate representation of the playerbase. It doesn't matter how many pages a forum post goes on for, many comments were made by the same people, and many more don't even post here.

Same issue with Darkside. It's bad design to have a single skill which requires this toggle, and they've already toned it down quite a bit. Again, most people have moved on but there is a vocal number still complaining. You can't just put everything on hold because one guy at the back says 'Oi, my smallclothes are the wrong color'. They have a LOT of development work still in progress, and plan these things months and even years in advance so they can fit it all in.

tl;dr, stop whining. It'll happen eventually.

Because not all the pet glamours would be implemented like that most likely and then what do you do about the ultimate moves. Wouldn't it be awkward to see carbuncle use an enkindle that clearly doesn't belong to them?

I don't see anything wrong with the carbies using Aerial Blast or Earthen Fury.

Aerial Blast is just a brief cyclone. Earthen Fury would look fine with the Topaz Carby having the same color.

Unlike their housing "fix", these fixes will actually work. Players will get what they want. It's just untidy from a design standpoint.
