Hopefully devs will learn from these mistakes once 4.0 rolls around.
There are so many things they could pull from the vast history of Final Fantasy. XI did, and I truly hope that XIV can create a massively varied job system in this game, because that is what could really set it apart from other MMOs. No other series comes close to the veritable mountain of classes that FF has had over the years. And if XIV can pull that off right, the sky is the limit.

Theres a huge differen between constructive criticism and what usually happen on these forums.

    "This idea sucks"
(what the OP is talking about)

Is not constructive criticism. It's childish

    "This idea sucks because.. (reasons)"
on the other hand is constructive albeit a bit rude and unnecessary.

Brainstorming classes for fun because it amuses you should always be encouraged, so long as you can conceed that some of your idea may not be up to snuff.

Plotting a class out that you want Square and Yoshi to add to the game, while not bad, is an exercise in futility, if you give it enough substance to even matter. Either your idea is bad and they won't be adding it to the game, or from what I understand of frequent problems in the creative process, it is a great idea that the production team won't touch with a forty foot stick because they don't tend to use things that were effectively created by someone else ((Unspecific things like the aforementioned "Dancer tank" and a Geomancer healer are vague enough that they wouldn't have any problem with that, and things that are convention, like the various "WoW-isms" in the game tend to be overlooked.))

This could be wrong by virtue of a difference in laws or some part of our user agreement.

People can theorycraft till the cows come home and it can be as well thought out as it could possibly be. In the end, its what the devs take away from it that will actually matter. Ignore the Debbie Downers, its not them you need to convince or explain yourself to. I actually like trolls like that posting on my threads. it keeps it bumped and current, more time for the devs to come across it and others to be inspired. So let the haters hate, it just gives you more exposure cause people look at the OP then the last comment, those are what matter.

Because they're not on the dev team, which makes their ideas(even if well thought-out) ultimately pointless. Context matters too in this. Someone starts a thread inviting everyone to cook up new jobs, people pitch in and it's topical chatter of what-ifs. Someone starts a thread all by themselves for the sole purpose of shopping their idea around like it would ever actually be used? Tacky/pretentious as hell; for bonus points these threads will also contain superfluous tags in brackets trying to ape official threads. You usually don't get the same kind of reaction when people make suggestions for existing jobs, because they're mostly staying within the framework of the job and putting forth ideas to change abilities that don't quite work as one might hope.
