What's the point of fishing retainers now?

Just got mine to lvl 60, but only two of all the fishes they can get have any practical use in crafting. Everything else is generic fish that's only used in desyn foddler.

2.0, the retainer was at least capable of bringing practical fish that had applications, like hammerheads.

Confirmed fishing retainer brought one back from level 55 Exploration venture about a week ago. They go for 6mil on my server, which is a JP realm which means its probably 8-10mil on a NA legacy server

Thanks for the info , my fisher retainer hasn't given me anything other than fish or another Fat Cat. I will keep sending her out and hopefully I can get the little puppy !

Yeah, I've been trying to get the minion from mine. She usually brings me HQ green fish though, which isn't bad. It's stuff that sells well or helps my Cul desynth, since I can't desynth Heavensward fish yet.

Sands. Ones of the fine variation might I add. They're generic fiddler fish, not special catches
