There are jerks in this game just as in the rest of life and nothing I say in a forum post will change that.

However going by your initial post, you were not fully innocent in the given situation. Yes, the players that you were with were probably jerks and could have been less rude and told you why they thought you should have not be using Mage' Ballad (many of the above posts point out why), but also your own response of "don't tell me how to play my job" could easily come off as quite rude too.

If you were keeping up Ballad for a reason, maybe you should have made that reason known and if the healer then decides to dps more because of it, awesome. If not, then just adjust and drop Ballad since it is not being taken advantage of.

I've dealt with many rude players in this game and there really is nothing I can do about how they act, but I have complete control over how I react. If people are being jerks and rude, don't add gasoline to the fire by reacting in the same way, just keep a level head and express yourself in a calm collected manner. If they then continue to be jerks, just leave as they are not worth your time or energy.
