I'd love this feature. FFXIV was less customizable than I thought so I was pretty disappointed while making my character back in September. Hence why this feature would make me happy. Course they are so busy fixing other things, this has probably become something at the very bottom of the list. (If they even remember).

This is one feature I've been waiting on for some while, but as noted it seems to have fallen on the back burner for now.

You can see my Miqo in my sig, I chose her hairstyle because it was an uncommon one and that eventually I'd be able to change it. No offense to Miqo/Mithra hairstyles, but the ones I like the most are the overly popular ones (hate being a copycat, mind the pun) and the rest are just meh.

Although I agree that other improvements to the game rank higher than incorporating avatar changes, it could also be seen as an easy win (it doesn't seem that it would be too difficult to implement). It may go towards keeping existing players as well to give them some variety and something to look forward to. Even IRL no one generally keeps the same hairstyle (or color) or facial hair for long periods- of course this doesn't necessarily address other features like tattoos or scars. It may be vain, but the graphics and how things look really drew me to FFXIV and keeping it fresh for me is important.

I really like the idea of incorporating several elements into the feature too rather than just being able to buy changes or enhancements. For example maybe some standard features can be bought, but there should be quests that allow you to unlock certain styles or features. Also, including a gathering/farming and crafting element for making the dye chemicals (the base, not necessarily by color becuase that may be too limiting on color options) or hair items (like combs, tiebacks or clips). Having limited time available choices during events would be pretty neat too. There are lots of options, I really hope that it doesn't drop off SE's radar for the long run and that they make it an interactive experience.

It could craft hairdyes or eyelenses, something like that. Items that when used, could change your appearance.
Maybe even equip a scissor and alter others' hairstyles ;P

But I won't like to be able to fully customize the character. Maybe just hair, tatoos and eye color.
I'm not with the Race change but well, If the implement the option I'm not going to use it :P

All I really want to be able to do, is look completely different from anyone else. I was quite surprised at the lack of customization when I first created my character. At least to me, it felt like it lacked a lot. Only a number of hairstyles, etc to choose from. But I moved on, here I am 6 months later still actually playing the game. So not like it was a break or make kinda deal.

But it would still be cool to edit my face more. That sounds weird. I don't know how else to word it.

I'd like to see a different take on the barbershop than in other MMOs. Cuz I think the game can sustain, like the example I gave for a class

I would squee with delight if such a feature was offered. IMHO Hyur female hairstyles are so . . . un-cute compared to all the other race's female hair options (c'mon, even Elezen ladies get pigtails!). And lalas just need more hair options all around.

I agree that it is a minor thing compared to all the things that need fixing, but you are looking at the back of your character's head for so long that it does make a difference. xD In fact my hyur's hairstyle unfortunately gets "eaten" by robe collars, which gets realllly annoying over time as I play primarily as a mage. ;_;
