Got to agree to ren on this part, and at the same time not.

I can agree that a mage shouldn't benefit from a chestplate defense value, but he should still be able to stroll around in it just for show.

Alot of people say vanity slots, but you guys that go complaining about wanting to actually see a good player because of his gear...? wouldn't you still have to go get that gear, which would require a certain degree of skill itself, I wouldn't mind seeing a lancer using plate armor as vanity...

In worst case, go develop a smart little emblem that gets put next to your name, a obvious emblem which reveals that character as a vanity slot user, that way you know the player just wants the character to look sweet while fighting and so on, instead of ranting on about requirements, and end game gear... think if SE hits a wall and wont bother getting any new gear out, imagine how a marauder lineup would be... or a gladiator lineup... Only difference would be height and shape of the character inside the armor, maybe a few differences in the weapons.

I just wonder if I should take cover before the ifrit conquerors start swiping their rainbow weapons around.

I like what you suggested. And I do support the idea of a vanity equipment system as a solution to the problem. It generates a new end-user consumption for the markets, which in turn increases equipment demand, and thus increases supply of goods...which can be a good thing for the economy.

*gets a pair of defibrillators and zerts the thread back to life*

From this point forward, let's talk about solutions to this problem. Since the current system is needed to maintain balance, we need to push Yoshi-P to implement a vanity item slot feature. The other alternative is to have him roll it back to Optimal Level functionality. Which do you prefer?

Yes restriction is very very nice.. however i'd like my so favorite LNC to have gear to wear too...
And not some clown looking random crap that make no sense wearing together and that dont match in looks, color
    or rank range....
    Yes restriction is good BUT!
LNC got really F'd in the A...

Still, my point stands. If you've played Star Wars Galaxies, I'm sure you understand what I mean by individualization.

I was a three-year SWG veteran, and I really loved the customizability in that game.
Sorry but my commando could never equip a lightsaber no matter how much i cried in the forums...

Also would you be happy if you walked into uldah and everyone is wearing that sexy red cobalt armor?

I like the look of new item you gave us with new recipe there, GJ, but pls dont forget the low and mid rank as well, and I can see you (SE) lack some recipe there

op: ask for remove restrist is a bad idea, but better ask for more adapt, we dont want mage run around with Cobalt Cuirass do we ?

    edit:

as far as I see, there are 4 type of armor:

    Heavy: the like of Cuirass
    Mail: scale Mail
    Leather: all leather
    Cloth: Cloth

and they go like this atm:

    Heavy: GLD, MRD
    Mail:GLD,MRD,LNC
    Leather:PUG,ARC, (GLD),(MRD),(LNC)
    Cloth: DoM, (PUG),(ARC),(MRD),(LNC)

those in () are the class I am not sure as I have only take a look at he heavy and mail, if the scale is keeping up like this, it will be like model mmorpg but no favor for RPG player.

Also, I am disappoint that the GC Soldier clother is a Artie and not a coat or cloak that you can equip. It suck can only server as a fashion when player are in town but not when they re hunting <---- and that is what I want

i would agree with you if it was like that from day one. but lancers were from day one, one of the favored classes for plate armor so its just stupid to exclude them now. mages still couldnt wear plate armor if they would include lancers to plate armor.

and they go like this atm:

    Heavy: GLD, MRD
    Mail:GLD,MRD,LNC
    Leather:PUG,ARC, (GLD),(MRD),(LNC)

i think they should switch LNC with MRD because MRD is some kind of Barbarian/Viking style class with an great axe and this type of warrior never wears plate armor.

the lancer on the other hand can become a dragon knight and knights wear plate armor.

I have no problems with LNC being included to plate armors but the OP is asking for anyone not just LNC to wear plate armor. Also i can see how MRD would make sense as a barbarian but in this game MRD is more of a tanking class with the increased enmity in Defender while under the effect of Steadfast (which is a MRD only ability).

I also think that MRD and LNC roles of gear should be switched, because in a military standpoint LNCs are mostly those who stop cavalry charges or any type of charge, as MRD need the chainmail to fully move and swing without any type of restriction and the weight he carries. but that's my opinion.
