Did I choose correctly?

Picked up a lvl 40 ear piece today, whoohoo. Had a 29. AND both were pinks.

Hmmm, the 29 has bonus of:
Int 3
Det 2
Acc 3
Spell Speed 2

The 40:
str 4
dex 4
skill speed 4

Not sure if there are sim craft applications like in wow, but seat of the pants tells me to stick with the 29 as all it's bonuses I can use while only marginally the skill speed on the 40 is kinda good.

Mistake or not?

This one's designed for Disciple of Magic damage dealers, like Black Mage.

The 40:
str 4
dex 4
skill speed 4

This one's designed for Disciple of War damage dealers.

Favor the one suited for your class over a higher-level one suited for different classes. If you plan on diversifying and picking up those other jobs, you could hold on to the DoW one for that, but otherwise it isn't very useful to you.

Well if your playing BLM you definitely wanna stick with pieces that give an increase to INT. STR and DEX won't do anything to help your.

Primary stats like INT carry far more weight than the secondary stats like spell speed.

Additionally, skill speed doesnt help you at all on BLM.
