With my crafted accessories i now have 140 vit and 155 str which Is 2 more vit and 68 it Is quite a difference. Ofc the difference will BE smaller with full 210 but even then you only get 147 vit and 94 str
    One: that's a I, not an L
Two: I can do math friendo, Reread my post. I know the difference, I stated it's overrated and really unnecessary for current meta. I'm pretty casual and what goes for a "static" in my FC progression is no problem so far. SA1 on farm and we took down 2 last week, and we are content with our accessories being dropped and selling those crafted accessories for big $$.

Here's what I think could be done to make Fending gear viable: Make it so that VIT adds DEF (and maybe MDEF) in addition to the HP it currently gives. This makes VIT a viable defensive stat. If you want anything offensive out of it, make it so that VIT DEF also counts as damage mitigation for hate-generating purposes.

Don't forget, we're tanks first, DPS second.

Dancer is a physical hybrid melee/range class, not a true ranged class. I love it.

Incoming nerf though because everyone would stack vit.

Well... if VIT provided damage reduction then they would have to buff all instanced foes to compensate. No nerfs necessary :P

If they keep the DPS checks harsh, the DPS will not wear VIT gear.

A better fix to the whole tanks-wearing-STR would be to put a damage scaling on VIT for tanks only where they get a % (20%, 30%?) of their VIT equivalent in STR. It is their "main" stat after all. Healers benefit their heals AND DPS from MND.

problem ive found is, the ilvl diff is so drastic, i had fully penta melded i110 accessories on the day they came out, and at the time they were 20 ilevels lower than the top gear available, but now they are 60 ilevels different, i think ill wait for the next tier of accessories before i get melded ones, plus i wont buy them ill make my own and need to finish crafts

Even being 60 ilvls lower they're still performing better than 200/210 gear. You won't see a mix break even with current crafted stuff until we get in the 220-230 range.

Also, they were dirt cheap to meld when the expansion was still fresh. A lot of people just lacked foresight. My co-tank and I spent a combined 4m or so for the materia in our pentamelds and with other activities at the time (such as Dragon Skin maps) we were still coming out ahead on gil.

    Strength

If Fending was 100% VIT & 50% STR they'd be weak enough that the DPS classes won't take them, but strong enough to make a tank want them.

Warrior is the only tank class that Generates threat via it's highest potency COMBO (Not Fell Cleave, that is not a combo) ; any strength boost to warrior while keeping HP Viable for your raid group is indeed a good investment. What is viable depends on the group entirely. 4x Melded Slaying (melded w/ VIT) 1 190 Slaying. (Not that guy that goes into duty finder without the HP)

Allow me to add Steel Cyclone and strength since it is the largest WAR emnity move with more then 1 target and is very powerful.

I'm honestly surprised that the responses in this thread are so much in favor of adding STR to fending accessories. Last time this topic was brought up 90% of the responses ranged from "I'm a tank I dont need to deal damage I dont want STR on my gear waaaa waaaa" to "only hardcore tryhards need crafted accs the average player is fine using full VIT"

Also somewhat related to the topic: in a recent interview Yoshi mentioned that they received feedback about tanks having problems generating enmity, so fully expect them to just gloss over this issue and instead increase some enmity modifiers, claiming that tank damage is completely fine and if you cant meet dps checks you should just wait a month for gear upgrades or spend 5 million melding accessories.
