It's been said ad nauseum, but bares repeating: there is nothing wrong withba brief leveling experience in an MMO. It should be only long enough to teach the basic mechanics oh the chosen class.

Nothing in slaughtering the same basic enemy for months will teach a player anything about how to tackle actual events. That's learned by trial and error in the actual events.

As it's been said, there's no difficulty in leveling. It's just an arbitrary hurdle.

But there enlies the beauty of XIV's unspoken motto: "Easy to start, difficult to master."

It's easy to get a class or two to 50 and have fun with friends, but it's going to take dedication and some serious grinding to get the crafts, gathering classes and materia to have the best HQ tier IV materia-maxed gear.

More casual players get to just play while those with more time get to min-max to their heart's content without ever stepping on each other's toes. The system is fine as is.
