Hey guys. I just wanted to throw my two gil in the pile for changes to the job to make it less underpowered. Yoshi P has stated that he thinks the biggest problem with Astrologian is the randomness of the cards, and I agree for the most part. However, if we were able to just use the cards we wanted on demand, it would be too powerful, in my opinion. My solution is a compilation of many different threads across multiple sites.


Skill Changes:
  • Celestial Opposition - No longer stuns enemies and instead grants a 10s buff that allows free switching between the Sects. 180s cooldown.
  • New Skill - Use? - Uses currently drawn card.
  • Draw - Draws a card randomly from a deck of six. After 6 draws, the deck is automatically shuffled. 5-10s cooldown. (TBD by developers for balance.)
  • Shuffle - Adds all cards back in deck and shuffles them.

Card Changes:
  • Bole - increased from 10-20%.
  • Ewer - Refreshes MP and TP.
  • Spire - 10% increased healing received.

The idea is to separate the Draw skill and the ability to use the card, so you don't have to get rid of a card right away to start your cooldown. I believe this option is better than adding a discard skill, as some have proposed. In addition, due to having a deck of only 6, you cannot draw the same card again without manually using the Shuffle skill or running through all 6 cards.

The card changes are also a major change I think we need. Bole in all honesty is just too weak when compared to the impact that the other cards have. Also, having 2 resource cards seems like a waste to me, especially when you consider we are missing a form of increased healing. I think combining the resource cards and adding increase healing received is a nice way to address both issues.
