It also helps that the game's developers all speak Japanese and that most Japanese gaming companies focus more on the Japanese market then on the global market.

    I agree with this.
We need moderators that will direct people to one thread when multiple threads are being made and/or move things to the correct forums.
Also, an official thread for each job wouldn't be bad either versus a player made thread.

I find ffxiv going like wow they had post at begin of 2.0 that said that too. the only way this game will wow like if the dev start give in to a player group that state one class is to uber then others. for example i used play wow is bst hunter and there was group markmen hunter felt the beast master hunter was over power with it pet ability.

It's not going the way of WoW unless the 3.X patch cycle consists of one raid and Twitter integration.

Then they should have those lines translated and posted here.

I'm getting sick and tired from the Japanese folks getting favoritism on everything, like the live letters, that's ignoring 70% if not more of the player base by not even providing a translator.

There is more negative feedback than positive feedback but IMO it should be as that. We had some "thanks for Heavensward" topics and I am glad for them, but devs need negative feedback more to be able to improve the game.

Even Yoshi said that he is glad for negative feedback because it lets them improve the game (please don't ask me for source, it was in an interview quite some time ago) but they also treasure the positive feedback ofcourse.

There are some meaningless rant threads (which I love when I have salty mood), but there are nice negative feedback threads with awesome points and suggestions.
Actually I am looking at different problem in these forums, many people have problem accepting constructive negative feedback or don't like any opinions that are against their idea of game and usually attack the OP a lot.

TL, DR: There definitely are good constructive negative feedback threads, don't blame only people for low responsivity of devs, they are to blame too. It is just easier for them to respond to suggestions for campfire minion.

    1) They don't speak English
    2) CMs presumably round up the general feedback trends and deliver them to their Japanese overlords, and can't say anything about their plans until Emperor Yoshi gives the go-ahead
    3) If CMs or Devs respond carelessly to hot topics (Housing, Retainers, Scrips) people will take those as promises, which will later be "broken"

And one last thing I would like to add, the only really helpful feedback is the "Negative" feedback. I know that the die-hard fanboys get their knickers in a twist if you ever speak badly about the game, but people do have legitimate complaints.

Minus the twitter integration isn't that pretty close to what we get every patch? The standard patch contains: a few MSQ quests that you can finish in 4-5 hours (I don't have a problem with this), 1 Primal, 1 raid (Alex or the new CT), 2 dungeons to grind tomes in until your eyes bleed.

Please put some thought into reading the Savagelf's OP before posting. I know it's a bit difficult, but the OP isn't asking a question. He's stating that "the reason we don't have a dev response is because our forums are filled with nothing but trolling and negativity". He's saying that if you're going to say something negative, you should say something positive as well... which is to say, I think he's saying we should be giving constructive criticism... which is absolutely what this forum needs more of.

Our forums are only good enough for passing the time when waiting for something or nothing to do. Once in a blue moon we'll get a good and reasonable thread but then the trolls come rolling in. Not to mention people want stuff that would add more problems to the game.

They barely respond either, they should close these forums and rely solely on the ingame suggestion form since they choose not to communicate with their customers.
Theres no rapport between se and its players on these forums at all which is where wow ultimately failed its playerbase as well. SE is slipping into a bad situation as well when it comes to that

I dont expect dev to post tbh, but a lot more cm input/presence is desperately needed.

Even wows cms hop in and engage in a bit of conversation once in a while even if it is a silly topic...you know communicate, PR...

CM can not decide anything nor are they expected to, but they are pretty much extinct.

We are pretty much 100% on our own with suggestions being discussed/argued amongst ourselves instead of being heard by those they are intended for.

There have been some really good suggestions and 99% of the time, never a reply or even any comment for anyone that ultimately matters, its shameful.

I agree too that many posts are outright whining...agreed!!
But many have not been, I have seen them come and go without a word....terrible.

The type of threads they need to start responding to are those from neutral type players..nothing worse for any game then a extreme hater..and nothing more stagnant and also extremely bad for a game are the pure white knights.

Haters are never happy, knights are happy with sub par experiences, blinded no matter how ridiculous, both of which eventually ruin any game.

Time for our cms to start getting to know their forum posters..and allowing us to know them, its time to become a major part of the forums and make all of us part of a true community.

Yes, but FFXIV gets these big patches more often than the last expansion of WoW did (which was once).
